There are reports that Coach Toole is being considered for the U. of Delaware vacant head coaching position. There are excellent candidates, in addition to Toole, being mentioned. I think it is unlikely that Toole will be hired. It would be a gutsy move for a newly hired A.D. to hire a coach who is coming off a 10-22 season.

It will be interesting to see what happens. I would be surprised if he left but not shocked. Coach Toole has lost a lot of talent over the years and it is becoming the norm with RMU and other programs. He will be 36 on September 11th and if there is going to be a move, the time is now.

And you can't even compare the facilities:

And who knows what is going on with the potential new arena. You hear new arena on campus one month and then I hear gut Sewall Center in 2017 while the mens/womens program play all home games at another location.

I personally would hate to lose Toole. He is a great coach and even better person off the court. But he has to do what's best for his career and family.

Yea I think he'll be staying at RMU too...

He has been mentioned in job searches (similar to this) many times before and hasn't even showed up for an interview (or been all that interested).

Toole is pretty loyal to RMU & makes a good salary too. He has a really good recruiting class coming in as well. Plus, he might want a bigger jump than to just Deleware.

Go RMU...

  • I published the list of candidates at Delaware earlier this week (Delaware Dirt). I have now been told to add Philadelphia 76ers assistant coach Billy Lange to the list. The former head coach at Navy (2004-11) had also been the associate head coach at Villanova and the head coach at Merchant Marine.
