Andy Toole offers Mike Iuzzolino, Jr

Andy Toole has offered a scholarship to 2021 guard Mike Iuzzolino,Jr. Mike is the son of RMU assistant coach, Mike Iuzzolino, Sr. Mike Sr. who played for St. Francis (PA) is one of the best players in NEC history. He was an NBA draft pick, played a few years in Dallas and then had a long and Hall of Fame career in Italy. Mike, Jr. transferred from North Allegheny H.S. this past year to a prep school in Connecticut. This past year, his jr year, he made 41% of his 196 3 point attempts and shot 95.1% of his free throws. Considering his comments in a Pittsburgh Sports Now article, he seems very excited to have received the offer from Coach Toole, but he said, "This will have nothing to do with my dad, I’m going to go where I fit in best.” This kid is passionate about the game, he'll work hard every day, he can definitely make shots, he's a winner - I am telling you he is the best fit to be coached by Andy Toole and Mike Iuzzolino, Sr. Come on Mike, Jr. if you want coaches who can bring out the best in you and your game, UPMC Events Center is the best place for you! Go Colonials!

Favorite RMU basketball players

Who are your favorite RMU basketball players of all-time?

I will start with Tony Lee who graduated in 2008. He was listed as 6'0" tall, but that was probably being generous to him by a couple of inches. He could out-rebound anybody, he could out-rebound guys a foot taller. He obviously had good athletic talent, but he was not extraordinarily gifted, he just had desire and toughness that allowed him to compete with anyone and made him one of the all-time RMU greats.

Scholar-Athletes

Congratulations to Nneka Ezeigbo on being named NEC Winter Scholar-Athlete of the year. We all know Nneka is a superstar on the court, she is also a star student. The RMU Women's basketball team consistently kills it in the classroom, with their entire roster on the NEC Academic Honor Roll.

The RMU men's team had three players named to the NEC Academic Honor Roll lead my Terrell Brown with a 3.91 grade point average. Dante Treacy and Josh Williams also were showed they are skilled in the classroom in addition to the basketball court.

FCS: Predicting Every 2020 Conference Champion

NEC
Robert Morris

The Colonials were a massive success story in 2019. They went a combined 1-17 against NEC opponents from 2016-19. And then last season, RMU went 6-1 in the conference standings (second place behind 7-0 Central Connecticut State) and finished 7-5 overall.

Some of RMU's top offensive players were just sophomores, like QB George Martin and RB Alijah Jackson. While CCSU has a lot of production coming back, including most of its players on a tremendous defense, I think the Colonials will close that gap after a breakthrough season.

What might have been

SI posted a fun story here about what might have happened in the first round of the NCAA tourney this year. Scroll down and there's a link to watch the full tournament game against Purdue when Chipper Harris, Forest Grant, Ed Bombich, Tom Parks, Phil Coles Tom Underman, Skip Koskowski, Mark Dobbs and Roy Dudley came so close to knocking off the Boilermakers. Great replacement for what we're missing this year.

NEC Finals RMU vs. SFU

This is a perfect match up for the Colonials in their first season at the UPMC Events Center. The NEC Championship, #1 seed vs, #2 seed, arch rivals, split their games against each other during the season. Two excellent coaches who know each other's style and opposing rosters well. It will be a master chess match. The speed of the game and energy will be at a high level. Get Ready! Can't wait. Go Colonials!

NEC semi-final, Let's Go!

I am expecting an exciting college basketball game. LIU has as much talent as any team in the Conference. Their record does not reflect the talent on their roster. Each team knows they are two wins away from the Big Dance. This is going to be a battle. The speed of the game is going to be at a higher level than during the regular season. The Colonials have the better Conference record and the home court, but they will need to be locked in for 40 minutes to be assured of moving on to Tuesday. I will say it again, this is going to be a battle. Go Colonials!

Football Coaching Staff Changes

Assistant coach Jacob Bronowski, who coached the tight ends and special teams the past two years under Bernard Clark, joined the University of Central Florida staff last month as a special teams quality control coach.

No other departures yet, to my knowledge, and they haven't advertised a new opening to fill his spot, but a couple guys added responsibilities.

Nick Alamaio took over the special teams duties. John Faircloth, the defensive line coach, has had defensive run game coordinator added to his title. Glenn Davis, the cornerbacks coach, has had defensive pass game coordinator added to his title.
