He had an official visit to Sacred Hear two weeks ago.

Perfect guy to slot right in as the backup PG vacated by Washington as a freshman. Love his work ethic, athleticism and potential.

April 11th begins the spring signing period for basketball

I've heard Seth Rouse may get a scholarship for his final year. That would give RMU four scholarships to use when the period opens, presuming no one else transfers (two grad transfers gone plus Washington and Burke).

Atem Bior would be one. Definitely need a PG. Definitely need a big man who can play the 5. Then maybe best player available or a guy who can earn some minutes on defense before developing an offensive game.

Greg Shead could *still* come...

But regardless we have 2 open spots with him & 3 without him.

& I agree that getting a big man for the 5 spot is big.

It seems as though Ashmeade's been long gone. Did anyone see him on the bench at all second semester? Or, has anyone seen him anywhere in the past three or four months?

Ya weird...u would think Toole wouldn’t want to give him another year of scholarship if he never played or even sat on the bench.

Looks like RMU got a commitment from a prep school kid.

Elijah Kiah El is originally from Philadelphia, went to a couple of the Philly public schools (George Washington and Martin Luther King). RMU has had a lot of success with Philly kids, with the most recent obviously being Koby Thomas.

Covenant College Prep is run by the same guy who used to run Coastal Academy, which is where Dachon Burke spent a year.

Good info. Have to like big bodied athletes that are matchup problems!

It appears he was a 2017 high school grad and was a post-grad this past year at Covenant College Prep. I like the recruits that have a post-grad year, they are more physically, mentally and basketball ready to contribute as freshmen.

Elijah Kiah El and Koby Thomas were AAU teammates on Team Philly

Wow you guys are great at finding information. Hopefully that is an indication that Koby has no intention of going anywhere.

Yes, that is what I am hoping, that is, that Koby plans to stay and he helped influence Elijah to commit. The comment above that RMU has had success with Philly kids is true. Keep those Philly kids coming!

Nice info, GoRMU!

From what I’ve heard, Koby is staying at RMU.

This commitment here helps comfirm that.

Losing Burke stinks but keeping Thomas would be/ is big as he might have the most potential/ highest ceiling out of anyone on the team this year. Not to mention we really need his rebounding skills & put backs to stay in games.

Koby is still a raw talent with a high ceiling. He and RMU are a good fit.

Glad to find this tweet

Robert Morris scoops up one of my personal favorites from the 2018 class in 2017 Martin Luther King grad Elijah Kiah-El. Wouldn't be surprised if he leads the NEC in rebounding before too long

Good find!

I’ve seen him listed at 6-7...215lbs so I guess he’d play the 4 or 5 for RMU.

I couldn’t find any decent videos of him tho but good to hear that people think he’s good.

Found an evaluation of him: "relentless motor" and "big time heart" which to me explains "great rebounder" and "tough defender". Otherwise skills seemed basically good or developing. Undersized for position but a definite D1 player.

Verbal Commits reports that 6'5 SF Cameron Wilbon has committed to RMU. Interesting that he does not appear under RMU but does show under NEC, with tomorrow's date. No other offers shown. Guessing that the two recruits over the past few days were just cleared by NCAA to be eligible. Welcome Cameron.

We still need a PG.

Another prep school kid. I like the approach. Prep school kids have had a year out of high school to maybe mature physically and mentally.

Here's his old HS highlights.

Maybe a Dachon Burke replacement. Bigger guard who can attack off the dribble, play above the rim and shoot a little from outside.
Yes seems beefier, a true 3. Love the pull up jumpers.

Like the addition!

Hopefully he got a little quicker since this last video but he seems to have a solid stroke & seems to be big enough to get a decent amount of boards.

PG article says one scholarship left. I am assuming Malik still has his scholarship and the speculation that Seth Rouse will get one for his senior year could be correct. That should leave one available to presumably use for a point guard.

Ya & according to Verbal Commits, both Ashmeade & Shead are still in with RMU.

Verbal Commits has been slipping a bit lately. I don't think they've reported Burke's well documented release, and Cameron Wilbon tweeted his RMU offer almost a month ago and he wasn't listed until he accepted.

Ya they can be...

I’m just saying that about those 2 players. We haven’t heard anything about them either tho.

Personally, if Sheard quit his team during the season, I'd be shocked if they took him unless there was a really good reason for him to do that. Sounds too much like another PG until recently associated with the program.

Yes, Verbal Commits is a nice resource, but it is far from complete. There is no need to keep mentioning Ashmead or Shead just because they are still listed on that website. Forget about those guys.

While Ashmeade is unlikely to come back, has he officially left the team? Just wondering.

& Shead is not locked into RMU at all as it was only an Verbal commit & not an LOI.

We still have nothing on the status of these two people from either RMU or their affiliated sources (trib, post gazette, etc...).
