New Offers

Agree on everything GoRMU.
I think there is a core group that we can expect to fax their LOI in first thing in the morning.

Even when guys do sign, they sometimes end up elsewhere for one reason or another. The key is to keep the recruitment and conversation going between the coaches and players the rest of spring and all summer until the guys are on campus.

As far as Murray goes, I think everyone has the same feeling that he has the potential to be a real special player for RMU. Seems like he already has some big offers, what I hope is that he see the success that Duq's freshman RB had last year, and could do the same, or maybe better for the Colonials. I really hope he chooses RMU, but if he goes elsewhere my guess would be a big FBS school.

RMU, the whole University, is making a lot of big moves both academically and athletically as of late, and has a lot of momentum right now. It is certainly a school on the rise in a lot of ways, and I think some of these young men realize that, and it is helping with recruiting. It is an exciting time for Robert Morris right now.

See previous post regarding dbrown just my opinion but I think you saw RMU target a couple kids that they believe are better and fill a more important hole. Not so much that they lost him but weren't going to put up a fight if he wanted to look elsewhere. Just my thoughts with the guys the colonial staff has received commitments from and his twitter activity.

Absolutely Agree

I know Duane brown had ridiculous stats and numbers that you never see, and I don't wanna take that away from the kid, but he played in one of the worst sections in the entire wpial. They played one decent team all year in keystone oaks and he was shut down in that playoff game. I think he's a better fit at a D2 school and rmu already have a few Duane browns on the roster. I think ADF is somebody who could challenge for time as a freshman and I'm excited they were able to snag him

DeWayne Murray III will be making his choice on Monday.
Come on DeWayne, you will love being part of the Colonials family!

Not to post about other schools... But looks like Murray is going to be a Duq

Wish him well, but hate losing him to the other local NEC school.
Wonder if there are other RB possibilities?

My feelings exactly. Well I think we can be confident that there is at least one full scholarship open. Not always a bad thing to have a scholarship in back pocket. Duqs RB Hines was committed to Richmond, then was not accepted, duqs scooped him up late in the game, think June last summer.

There are always talented guys that for on reason or another that plans do not work out.

I do think RMU will be OK at RB, but we know injuries can change that quickly. Any clue where Dreher is going to play? He will add a spark wherever they line him up.

You'll have Blake, dreher, and Malik wells back at running back this year. Harrison is playing running back, and to be honest I think Harrison is a better back than than Dwayne Murray but that's just my opinion. I watched them both

I know I talk him up a lot on here, but I think Dreher is going to be a beast. Having him out last year will be/was actually a blessing. Do not think there are many on team that out work that young man.

Thanks for reminding me about how good Harrison is I just went back and looked at some of his videos and articles. He is one heck of an athletic. He could be a very, very exciting player for the Colonials.

This is what I think when I think of this years class:

I like to include jimmy walker, Matt Barr, Harrison dreher, Eric McAllister, Andy smigiera, and Cole Blake in my mind because none of them were able to see a snap last season except Matt but that was only one drive. If you add those 6 on top of this recruiting class, plus all the experience coming back, it really makes this season look really positive. They hung tight and were in almost every conference game last year with 3rd and 4th stringers, and a wrath of freshman at almost every position on offense

There is a TON of reason for optimism. In addition, Pulley (mid year transfer) should help on D. I am confident that the D will be good to great. Just need the O to get it going, and most importantly the line to continue to improve, and pick a QB that lead the O. Really looking to reports on Spring Ball.

And a high level big WR, Aiden Howard who did not see action this past season.

Missed Aidan too! If you include all who didn't play last season and transferred this year that is by far the best class in the NEC. Also, saw that frank antuono got the 34 jersey so I'm guessing blake skurtowicz is gone this year

Blake Skurtowicz left at semesters end. Shame too because he had a lot of potential in Miller's offense at that HBack position and obviously saw a ton of action last year.

Having Blake back at RB will offer a different dynamic from last season in that he has some size. I'm also curious to see if they keep Neal at RB as I believe he has strong potential there as well.

tyblake, you say Barr played a series against Malone? You must have missed the game, against a BAD D-II team at that. Bodeman got 5 snaps vs. the nations #2 team, that would be more like a series. Hopefully Walker impresses. The slightest stability at QB will surly help.

I do not look for our defense to skip a beat, even losing some high end talent.

In that game that Matt played one drive, he played with a torn lat and a partially torn rotator cuff in his throwing shoulder. I remember seeing how well he played at the end of his freshman season once he got healthy, specifically the Bryant game that rmu pulled off the upset. Having back a healthy Barr, bodeman, and adding jimmy walker to the mix really gives the qb position more talent than I've seen in the last 3 seasons. And Tj Neal is back to playing corner I believe. Last season we had nobody who could throw the ball down the field and be a legitimate threat, so it made it easy for other teams to load the box and stop the run every game. I think with the experience coming back on the O line, plus McAllister and the freshman, add in both running backs you didn't have last season, a few new receivers plus everybody returning, and 3 quarterbacks that were unavailable last season for all but 5-10 snaps, and this offense will have an all new dynamic. The defense will not have to spend 45 minutes a game on the field and get worn down by mid 3rd quarter

You are right about the QB situation, it has been years since RMU has this much talent at the position. It has also been year after year of the D keeping the team in games.

I really think just an average FCS offense, combined with RMU's D would be a DRASTIC improvement and a legit NEC contender. I realize it is a long way away, and there will be struggles this year, but I can really see this team doing big things in the next couple years.

tyblake & Captain Fantastic, my point was he played more than just a series. He played 2/3 of the game.

Regardless, yes, we should be vastly improved at that position and have some REAL depth.

LetsGoRoMo, I could not agree more.
