Former RMU, and current St. Bonaventure head basketball coach Mark Schmidt interviewed for the head job at Boston College according to some reports. Schmidt, to a large extent, laid the ground work at RMU for the success we have been enjoying during the current era of Colonials' basketball. He elevated the recruiting efforts and brought In some under the radar talented recruits such as Derek Coleman, Tony Lee and Jeremy Chappell. At Bonaventure he has revived a program that had fallen to consistently being at the bottom of the A-10. Schmidt is a graduate of BC, where he played his college ball. When you consider how depressed the Bonaventure program was before Schmidt arrived, and how difficult it is to recruit players to Olean, NY, you realize what a remarkable job he had done.
