How does everyone feel about how RMU looked Saturday? Aside from missed receptions and some missed calls from the officials, did we look better than last year? Do we have a shot at pulling it all together and making a run for the NEC title?

This is a total different team from last year, a lot better in my opinion. They still have trouble running the ball. But I was very impressed by Barr. He only made 2 mistakes I saw and almost all of his incompletions hit his receivers in the hands. Defense looked great we just couldn't get them off the field in the second half

From my perspective, this is a better team than 2014. Yes there were mistakes out there but those mistakes that happened are fixable. It will come together. Can they make a run for the NEC title? That is very tough call after one game. So much can change between Dayton and that Wagner game.
RMU has two ranked opponents on their schedule prior to NEC play but if you want to measure this team prior to NEC play...circle that homecoming game.

By virtue of health, experience and some new additions, I think this team should be better than last year. The defense and special teams play was tremendous on Saturday. They pressured Dayton all day long. Last year RMU scored just 34 points directly off turnovers. They scored 14 on Saturday, including setting up the first touchdown with an interception return to the 3, and not to mention setting up a failed opportunity with the recovered muffed punt. The offense was very similar statistically to last year. There was one nice long TD drive in the second half, but not a lot more. This offense still cannot run for more than 3 yd per carry average and still cannot complete 50% of passes in the passing game. I thought the play calling was a little more creative (in the first half) and the offensive line was improved a bit. There were some close misses and points were certainly left on the field that hopefully can be resolved with time. But it's hard to win when you punt 10 times in a game and it puts a ton of pressure on the defense to play at a high level. Hopefully this improves because I do believe the team has a good looking defense and greatly improved special teams unit.

This should be a concern. If the measuring stick of the Colonials season (and program) is a game against a D2 school that's picked to finish 6th in their conference (and gave up 56 points in their opener to another D2), then the RMU needs to look closely at the direction of the football program. Robert Morris should be looking at competing with the upper tier D1 FCS schools by now as to how they stack up. They should be expected to beat soundly a D2 school or the program is headed in the wrong direction.

I'm hoping the offense can turn around, owens doesn't run as hard as he could for his size and the receivers have to catch the ball when it hits them in the hands like it did saturday. We'll see what happens at youngstown state this weekend

Team looked a lot better. Nice to see. Hope the solid play continues. A few more weeks to tune up before the "real" games start in NEC play.

Ram has been working on running to "upright" this is a common problem with bigger running backs. Got to limit the hits to his body.

Competing with Upper level 1AA FCS schools is going to be a challange as long as there is a scholarship discrepancy between the NEC and the upper FCS.

What i think original_rmc meant by homecoming being a big is the fact that it is sandwich in between two ranked FCS schools. You dont want to see a let down in that game. That should be a good chance for the colonials to come out firing and working on getting better and getting a W.
