Robert Morris offered Buffalo (NY) Canisius HS safety Ryan Richards a couple months ago and had him visit back in December, and it all paid off Monday night.

Richards committed to RMU over offers from Duquesne and Albany.

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound safety is close with redshirt freshman receiver Chaq Nettles and rising sophomore safety Andy Smigiera, who are both Western New York products.

Here are his highlights.

Later Monday night, another target popped for Robert Morris when Pittsburgh Central Catholic defensive lineman Angelo Natter committed to the Colonials.

The 6-foot-3, 250 pound Natter mostly played as the weakside defensive end in Central Catholic's 4-3 defense, where he could use his speed and athleticism to get by blockers. Natter was part of an incredibly stingy and active defense that allowed just 7.3 points per game and helped guide Central Catholic to the Pennsylvania state finals.

Natter also occasionally played defensive tackle, and he also played tight end on offense.

You can watch highlights of his playoff performance here. Natter also had an offer from VMI.
-----------------
It should be noted that both Richards and Natter come from places Robert Morris has established as pipelines. Obviously RMU is going to recruit in the Greater Pittsburgh area, but the Colonials have established a strong connection to Central Catholic. In the last five years, RMU has pulled in D.J. Myers, Steve Mitchell, Dustin Lowman, Malik Johnson, Mike Neilson and now Natter from Central Catholic.

Since 2006, Robert Morris has pulled in Ian Margerum, Allan Wolfe, Paul Evans, Tony LaMancusa, Andrew Castilone, Andy Smigiera, Chaq Nettles and now Richards from the Greater Buffalo area in Western New York. LaMancusa, Smigiera, Nettles and Richards have all been in the last four years.

Relationships are a huge component of recruiting. Having local coaches know and recognize what your program represents can do a lot for you on the recruiting trail.
