RMU moving forward

Curious to everyone's thoughts/opinions. I think we all can see/guess that RMU bball is going to facilitate a change in conference. The end goal is not NEC with the new arena coming.

RMU also does not have enough $$ to really dump money into more than 2 male sports in my opinion. So I think the choices are 2 of football, basketball, ice hockey, and lacrosse. Lacrosse and ice hockey are kind of niche sports, but an influx of money/facilities can put rmu on more of national stage than they already are. Adding to this, if upgrades for men's hockey would also improve the incredibly successful women's ice team. Also seems like those teams have done more with less.

Lacrosse has had a lot of good wins, and have a lot of pros.

Now an improvement to JW stadium would also be an improvement for men's and women's lacrosse.

Guess I would like to know what admin is thinking. The bball team will determine conference basically from what I gather, will admin take that opportunity to drop football to pioneer league? Spend more on travel but save schollys and dump that into hoops and hockey?

MBBall - Canisius Friday 12/22 7:00pm

Last OCC game for the Colonials and its at the Palumbo Center. Going into NEC games 7-6 would look a lot better than 6-7. If they can play like they did in first half of NC State they should roll, though I know its tough to shoot like that for an entire game.

Hope Gombe gets rewarded and gets to start. Canisius is 5-7 and in the MAAC.

Massey Game prediction
RMU has 61% chance to win with a predicted score of 70-67.

My worthless prediction:
RMU comes out strong and keeps foot on gas. I think they are going to blow them out. RMU 77-54

MBBall - NC State 12/19

Tough game for the Colonials as they go down to ACC country. NC State already played Bryant, and beat them by 23 earlier in the year. They are 8-3 overall.

Massey Ratings:
NC State 75
RMU 190

Massey only gives RMU a 10% chance to win with a predicted score of 81-67.

My worthless prediction:
RMU comes out hot and its a tight game at half hitting a lot of threes. They go from hot to on fire in second half and pull the upset 78-75.

GO COLONIALS

MBBall - Buffalo 12/16 (Saturday)

Tough test for the Colonials this weekend with Buffalo. Their last game was against "Central Penn"? Not sure who they are, and did not really look into it.

Anyways, they have a fan website, https://www.ubbullrun.com/ so maybe they will have a preview up soon.

Game will be on ESPN3.

Massey Ratings
UB: 123
RMU: 185 (RMU is doing a great job climbing these rankings)

Massey Prediction:
Massey gives RMU a 23% chance to win 68-76

My worthless prediction:
RMU 72 UB 68

Will be interesting to see if Leoandre is back, such a good mix of guys on the team with different skill sets. Hopefully Matty has another great game, Dburke does his thing and lets hope FT% ticks up.

GO ROMO

MBBall - Drexel 12/10 (Sunday)

Second home game, Drexel coming to PPG. 2:00 pm.

Drexel seems like an up and down team. They beat Houston who is a pretty darn good team, but lost to NJIT who isn't the best.

Massey prediction:
RMU has 64% chance to win, 71-67

My worthless prediction:
RMU wins 62-58

Think they are going clamp down on D, and like Jim said last broadcast, they have to stop from getting in to deep of a hole, keep them close and then hopefully get hot from 3 and bury those FTs down the wire.

MBBall - Rider 12/6 *plus Coach Toole Interview

First, Coach Tooles Interview:

Video of the game should be on RMU's website.
Massey Ratings:
RMU: 217
Rider: 159 (5-3) Looks like they have a pretty good Offense. Last game they lost to Drexel 77-89.

Massey Prediction: RMU has 46% chance to win. Predicted score 72-74

If they can knock down free throws and some threes, I think RoMo can hang.

My prediction:
67-62 RMU.

MBBall - Siena Game 12/2

Last game of the open road trip takes the Colonials to Albany to play Siena. They are currently 1-5 on the year with their win coming against Hofstra.

Masseyratings.com info:
Ratings:
Robert Morris 204
Siena 224

Massey gives RMU a 30% chance of winning and predicts the score RMU 68 Siena 74.

Would be great to get a win against a MAAC team.

If the guards play well, and the guys bust a$$ on D like they have been, I think they can get a win. Not sure of how to watch the game. If I, or any of you guys figure it out, please post.

GO RO MO!

NEC weekly awards

Uh oh, Colonials continue to rake in these awards. DBurke wins player of the week for the second week in a row. Jon Williams followed Koby Thomas (who has won it twice already) as rookie of the week. Love to see them getting time and playing well however you know what can happen after getting some success. Koby had higher end offers and chose to come to RMU, and Jon should want to play through with his brother, who I expect to also be a key player when he is eligible next year. The future looks bright and there's plenty of basketballs and spotlights to share.

Football Candidates

After yet another debacle Saturday, there is no question in my mind that we will see a new staff for the 2018 season (if the University cares at all about the football program). With that said, I was wondering what name(s) those on the forum would like to see as a candidate or think would be a good candidate to lead the program going forward. We have already heard Farison, Benzel, and Palko's name thrown out in previous threads; although for various reasons I am not a huge fan of those options at this point. Anyway, I'm interested to hear some more thoughts and the logic behind them.

MBBall - Youngstown State

Game is on ESPN3, so hopefully all of you guys will get to watch.

Burke and Koby are doing great leading in scoring. Hopefully Matty continues to find his shot, and play the great D he always plays. As a side note, Matty seems to be the leader of the team, he is always calling for the guys to huddle up even when he is on bench. Seems like all the guys respect his hard work and leadership. Might be reading that wrong, but that is what I see from watching online.

Anyways, as I like to do, here is some Massey information.
Ratings:
RMU: 217
YSU: 333
RMU has 58% chance of winning.
Massey has RMU second in the NEC, only behind Wagner, and St. Francis in 3rd.

Hope the guys can get the W, would be great to be above .500 with some tougher games coming up soon against at Siena, then "home" against Rider.

Lets Go RoMo!!!
