Robert Morris junior forward Stephan Bennett has been suspended indefinitely from the basketball team. Bennett was arrested in South Side on Saturday and charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, failure to disperse, disorderly conduct, and public drunkenness. CBS Pittsburgh was the first to break the news and has the full story here:

"Officers were initially called to the scene for an issue with crowd control. In the process of escorting everyone out, Bennett's girlfriend was taken into custody. At that time, Bennett allegedly took a fighting stance with an officer, lunged at him and pushed him backwards. Another cop responded and they tried to get Bennett to cooperate. Bennett refused and officers used a leg sweep maneuver to get him on the ground."

A program official left this statement to Colonials Corner:
"Per team policy, Stephan Bennett has been suspended from the basketball team pending further investigation. We cannot comment further on matters pertaining to the student discipline owing to our own policies and federal privacy laws."

Bennett will not play in Tuesday's championship game. On the floor, it certainly hurts to not have the frontcourt depth there. Without Bennett, Aaron Tate, Elijah Minnie, Leo Gomis, and Andre Frederick are the forwards available. Bennett was averaging 4.3 points and 2.0 rebounds in 18.4 minutes-per-game on the season.

Disappointing obviously. Dre and Leo are capable and I look forward to them stepping up.

Tough news the day before the title game, but adversity breads opportunity! Leo Gomis, time to show them what you got!
