With school back in session and the recruiting calendar open, Robert Morris opened its doors to a host of recruits this weekend.
It paid off with two immediate commitments.
The Colonials picked up a commitment from 6-foot-4, 210 pound WR/LB Nic Lamica and then grabbed a commitment from 6-foot-5, 260 pound offensive lineman Blake Chambliss.
Chambliss also visited this weekend, one of a couple Moeller (OH) High School athletes who scoped out the football program. Moeller won the state title in Division I in Ohio and has traditionally been one of the better high school programs in the Buckeye state. Chambliss was predominantly a right guard for Moeller, which would help Robert Morris fill out the interior of the line, but his size would also suggest he can jump out to right tackle. You can find highlights of his season here. His commitment was first reported by the Cincinnati Enquirer.
Lamica, meanwhile, will have to slot into a position. His commitment came as a potential linebacker, but the Forest Hills Central (Michigan) athlete was also a good wide receiver. He's obviously got a big frame, and his highlight tape showcases above average hands and body control. Not to mention, Robert Morris was in the market for a big receiver, and Lamica has the size that could even shift to tight end depending on what RMU coaches envision for him. His commitment was first reported by The DZone.
Defensively, Lamica played a combination of outside linebacker and safety for Forest Hills Central. Judging from his highlight tape, which you can see here, it's likely he gets his first shot on offense.
ColonialsCorner will have another recruiting update soon focusing on several other visits.
