Anyone know who we are playing or should be playing this year in the non-conf slate of games?

I know we are playing Ohio State...

Probably Duquesne as well.

Post thoughts & info below! Thx!

Very quiet on the RMU scheduling front. I am thinking playing at PPG arena is having an impact on their non conference schedule. I am assuming home games will be minimal.

Does anyone have any insight into possible conference shifts?

Good question & I hope someone has more info (maybe inside info idk) than I got.

A news paper writer in Michigan I think with over 10 K followers said before that RMU was being pursued by the Horizon League & might be #1 right now.

Not sure we are #1 of now but we have a shot.

Drop football and lax and add baseball. LOL, just kidding, usually any mention of dropping football catches this message board on fire.

I don't see how the horizon league is gonna benefit the basketball team that much more. If anything, I think it would make recruiting harder because the philly kids and jersey and New York City kids are gonna want to play against teams in this region, not in the Midwest. Look at pitt, they recruited NYC and jersey excellent when they were in the big east. They make a move to the acc which was supposed to benefit them because it was a better conference and they've done nothing but struggle because those same kids they recruited before aren't interested anymore. They don't get to play in Madison square garden for a championship, and the majority of teams aren't in the northeast either. I don't think the horizon league geographically makes sense for the basketball team

But beggars can't be choosers.

If RMU could def get in the MAAC, I'd say go their over the Horizon.

But, that ain't garenteed for sure.

Horizon is looking for a team & if they want to add RMU, I hope RMU would make the move.

The Horizon League gets seeds normally from 12-15 in the NCAA T. NEC has been stuck at 16 & play in game for a while.

Go if we can...

Go if you can..Indy the football team take it to 63 schollys and go play against some real FCS Teams and make a run at a good football conference.

Leave the Big East conference for perhaps the best basketball conference in the country. And being considered one of the top FBS conferences as well. Smart move for Pitt. If Pitt can't land those NYC kids then that falls on the coaches. Smart move for Pitt.
If RMU lands an invite, they have to consider it. The NEC is not going to grow. Perhaps playing in the Horizon league will help retain players year after year.

This move will impact athletics at RMU. It will greatly help some programs but question others. Would the NEC allow RMU to stays for LAX and Football? I would hope so. Having RMU leave impacts the NEC and could trigger other schools like Bryant looking to leave the NEC to upgrade their LAX program.

And I'm not sure if RMU is willing to invest the money to upgrade to 63 scholarships for football until they find a home. But for RMU, what makes a good conference? Some conferences have stadium seating requirements that RMU could not match. Would the Patriot consider removing Georgetown (2,500 stadium capacity) to add RMU or simply add RMU for football & lax? Dr. Howard would have to call in some big favors to get RMU into the Patriot League for football & lax.

For football, you would have 4 schools in PA for PL; Bucknell, Lafayette, Lehigh & RMU.
Colgate & Fordham in NY
Holy Cross in Mass
Georgetown in D.C.

Looks like 4 games are locked in

11/10 at Ohio State
11/13 at Grand Canyon
11/29 at Youngstown State
12/6 Rider

I would also think there is a game vs Duquesne at either PPG or Palumbo.

So at minimum 2 non-conf games within an hour of the Burgh.

Duquesne game should be in pgh somewhere and YSU is like a 45-50 min drive.

Hope to get a couple "home" games tho at PPG.

I assume 1-2 min more power schools will be added to what's already here.

& oh I missed the Rider game.

I assume that one will be at PPG arena.
