Had the same thought. With Merrimack and Sacred Heart leaving, there would only be six football schools left. Bryant is headed to the CAA. Robert Morris is really sticking out on an island in the Big South-OVC hybrid football conference.
The NEC could bring back RMU as an associate member and have seven football schools while it explores adding any other D-II schools. Competition level would be about the same.
