Final week of the regular season and Robert Morris has two of its toughest games of the year. Not only do the Colonials need some wins, but they have to play Mount St. Mary's and St. Francis PA, their top two rivals. Both games are on the road and both are ahead of RMU in the standings.
Heading into the final weekend, here's the NEC standings:
1. Wagner 13-3
2. St. Francis PA 10-6
2. Mount St. Mary's 10-6
2. St. Francis Brooklyn 10-6
5. Robert Morris 9-7
6. LIU Brooklyn 8-8
6. FDU 8-8
8. CCSU 6-10
9. Sacred Heart 4-12
10. Bryant 2-14
If CCSU wins or Sacred Heart loses, CCSU clinches the last playoff spot.
Wagner has clinched first place.
Of the four teams fighting for second, Robert Morris is in the worst position. Not only do they trail the three teams tied for second by a game, but if they all end up tied at 11-7, RMU would finish last in the group on tiebreakers because it'd have only a split with all three teams.
So which of the teams might help? Well, besides playing RMU, Mount St. Mary's has to play Wagner. The Mount has struggled with losses to Bryant and FDU lately, but the game against Wagner is at home. St. Francis PA plays FDU on the road besides playing Robert Morris. The Red Flash have won three straight.
Unfortunately, St. Francis Brooklyn may not be much help. They play CCSU and LIU. Those aren't guaranteed wins, but it's certainly the easiest schedule of the three.
So to get a home game, looks like the best route is for RMU not only to go 2-0, but hope for the Mount to continue to struggle.
