Impressive effort by the RMU football team against YSU! This team is going to win its share of games this year. Prior to the start of the season, I thought the most impressive circumstance that could happen to get the Colonials noticed would be for YSU to beat Pitt, followed by RMU defeating YSU. That seemed to me to be totally unrealistic. As things turned out, although YSU lost last week, they gave Pitt all they could handle, and then for RMU to take YSU into overtime - well, RMU football has come a long way!

The team looked good especially the RB- what a weapon offensively. Don't know why they won't throw the ball in thaw air a little more tho. You can't run the ball "every" (almost lol) play and win a game (most of the time). I guess the air game is still a work in progress as RMU has a freshman QB.

But all in all, RMU has a good team and at minimal double or triple the amount of wins they had last year...
Go bobby mo...

The weather against YSU was awful. The rain was non-stop and that wind was whipping around at times. I do expect to see more attempts this Saturday to get Barr and this passing attack going. I have not been impressed in 13 games with the passing attack. I'm hoping that we see more down field attempts come Saturday. If RMU is going to challenge in the NEC this season, they can't be one dimensional and only run the ball.

Thank you- agree totally. They must throw the ball too! Plus it gets boring for the fans (and wide outs too) if you only run the ball seemingly every play...

They should have tried throwing the ball down field with more than a minute left, but they kneeled the ball instead. I mean this isn't hockey (-no points for going to OT and losing). Also as they say, "no guts no glory".

I don't agree with trying to throw the ball towards the end of the 4th quarter of the YSU game. I liked that RMU played it safe and took their chances in OT. Were we one Andy Smigiera sack away from us talking about the biggest football win in the young program's history. And I'm not placing the blame on Andy, he and the other Colonials played a great game.

But come Saturday, we need to see the ball in the air more. We need to loosen up ND's D because they are going to pack the box to stop Owens.

If Barr lost his contact lense, then why wasn't the backup QB put in?
I mean it would only make sense.
It's pretty hard to throw if you can't see.

I went to the game and Barr's dad mentioned he lost a contact lens. Not sure if that is the reason there were almost no passes. Only 2 receptions the whole game. The team is looking good though!

They didn't pass as much because of the weather conditions and yes barr lost his contact. They attempted 34 passes against dayton and had the recievers not dropped so many passes he would've had 28 completions. Hopefully it doesn't take 3 1/2 quarters to establish the running game again this week. Outside of the quick touchdown run, That's two weeks in a row that ram doesn't get anything more than 2-3 yards a carry for 3 full quarters. At dayton he had 20 carries for 37 yards in the first half, and at youngstown he had 13 carries for 20 yards in the first half outaide of the initial touchdown run. Not sure what the deal is but hopefully the offense doesn't take so long to get going this week

Seems kind of absurd to rip the running game after a 156 yeard 2 TD night by the young man, when the passing game contributed 3 yards and 0 first downs in regulation. The 16 yards total passing minus the 15 yards lost by sacks makes for a 1 yard night including OT. And I sure hope weather wasn't the reason because things can get pretty nasty at Walton Stadium and elsewhere in the NEC. The good news is that this week should cure a lot of issues as RMU should win easily. And the defense and special teams look to be for real.

I'm not ripping the running game, I've simply shown how slow of a start it has gotten off to in consecutive weeks. I'm purely stating facts, and the unfortunate truth is that they haven't been able to move the ball in the first half either week outside of that quick touchdown at ysu. But a lot of things should come together this week and they should win handily

Glad you mentioned that Sally. I am not an X and Os expert, but that appeared obvious to me.

The option read was still there in the 2nd half. Barr was doing a much better job reading YSU's DE Derrick Rivers who was a monster in that game. Rivers wanted to play both Owens and Barr. Barr would see him cheat to the outside waiting for the QB. And when Owens got the ball, he started to hit the holes hard. The OL did a great job against a very good defense.

Barr indeed lost his contact half way through the second quarter and had it replaced at half time. We are putting to much stock into that as to why the passing game struggled. As original RMC pointed out the weather was brutal and did indeed play a factor. Also if you claiming no guts no glory on the last possession then you clearly are lost when it comes to the game of football. RMU took over with a minute to go at the five yard line. At that time they had completed one pass with a true freshman QB and you wanted them to attack a ysu defense with arguably the best pass rusher RMU will face all season ?? Also Matt struggled with reads this game there were countless times he could have pulled the ball but instead handed it off to Ram which in turn made it look "slow" or gain minimal yards. Enough praise cant be given to the oline how they dominated ysu on the last td drive. They were facing a 7 or 8 man box the whole drive and continually ran outside zone and counter for positive yards.

Dont think you can knock the run game as that will be the bell cow of this offense. Need to complete some more balls this week to open up some of those holes.
