Freshman defensive end Ryan Budny announced via his Twitter account that while he'll be staying at Robert Morris, he's done as a football player. The 6-foot-5, 215-pound Ohio native redshirted last year and figured to contend for more playing time this season behind the likes of Forrest Mason and T.J. Matrascia.

Instead, he said he was hanging up his cleats with the following two tweets:
"I love all that the football team at #RMU has given me, but I think my time as a player is over. My heart isn't in it anymore."
"I'm hopefully not leaving the team as a whole. I will try and find a spot where they can use me. and I will do my best there #LT"

Budny is the third freshman to depart the team in the offseason, but the only one hoping to stay at RMU. Receiver Alex Caratelli and punter Zach Sampson are both looking to transfer.
