Whereas basketball takes time, patience, and a lot of last minute shuffling to figure out, football scheduling is often done a couple years in advance. Robert Morris is pushing forward even more with its football scheduling.

Here are the known future opponents for 2014, and beyond, and based on a 6-game Northeast Conference schedule upon the departure of Monmouth and Albany after the 2012 season. As always, this is subject to change. Dates and times to be announced. Also, it should be noted 2014 is a 12-game seasons because of the number of Saturdays between Labor Day and Turkey Day.

These are some great teams. Whoever does the schedule did a real nice job putting it together. I am pumped for a Thursday night game. Is that going to be televised?
Morgan State
Virginia Military Institute
at Eastern Kentucky (Thursday night)
at Lafayette

Edited to remove Monmouth from the schedule and add Dayton for 2013.

Now a six-game NEC schedule, which means RMU needs at least 5 and potentially 6 non-conference games. We may not have confirmation on this for some time.

FYI, by my calculation, these are the teams that could potentially be added to the schedule.

We begin from a working list of teams who do not have a full 12-game schedule, then pare that down to a list of teams who could also fit in on several open dates. For example, if a team has just one open date but it's the first week of the season, they're out because RMU is already confirmed to open the season on August 29 at Eastern Kentucky. But if it's an open date on 9/21, it remains a possibility.

TEAMS WITH OPEN DATES
Northern Colorado (10/26 only)
Liberty (10/19 or 11/16)
Indiana State (9/21 only)
Southeast Missouri State (11/2 only)
Fordham (10/26 only)
Georgetown (11/9 only)
Jacksonville (9/21 or 10/12 or 11/23)
Marist (9/21 only)
Georgia Southern (9/21 or 10/19)

POTENTIAL MONEY GAMES
Northern Colorado
Indiana State
Southeast Missouri State

POTENTIAL REASONABLE HOME/AWAY GAMES
Fordham
Georgetown
Marist

I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Georgetown or Marist on the schedule the next two seasons. Indiana State remains a possible money game.

Edited to add an official date for the Dayton game. Just waiting to find out whether Robert Morris will have an 11-game or 12-game schedule. If it's 11, that 9/21 date will be a bye week.

The Lafayette date for 2014 has been confirmed. With the 2013 season just about upon us, this schedule thread is now focused on 2014 and beyond. Three dates are already confirmed for 2014. Now the question is whether RMU will play 12 games in John Banaszak's first year or just 11.

I believe VMI will make a trip to Joe Walton Stadium, but it doesn't look like it will be until 2015. That return trip is also not confirmed just yet.
