ColonialsCorner has learned Robert Morris defensive tackle Farren Mason has received an exceptionally rare seventh year of eligibility and is preparing to return for the 2014 football season.

Mason received a sixth year of eligibility last year but was injured in a car accident following Robert Morris' fall scrimmage in late August. His injury meant he missed the entire season, and Robert Morris thought he might be able to gain an extra year since it was non-football related.

ColonialsCorner will try to find out what sort of precedence there is for a seventh year. Sixth years are pretty rare as it is.

Mason is beloved by his teammates so there will be some extra excitement that he's coming back.
