I think this is the definition of a must win for Banny. I really thought the SHU game was it, but I doubt RMU would make a change during the year. I would bet money though, if RMU does not win out, there will be changes.

CCSU is very winnable game. They can do it, but O, though is improving, needs to rack up a lot more yards.

The Specials teams have been good, but against SHU that was awful. ANOTHER blocked FG (how many is that now??) and the first punt fumble (PETER PETER PETER).. these things are haunting RMU and crippling any chance to win.

I think the O needs to balance out pass/run early and keep with passing. The wildcat is not effective in the long term. Just let Carroll play.

Also, to repeat, Benzel 6-1.

Do you really think a 4-7 (3-3) season will save the staff?
You are 1-7, 0-3 in the NEC and your only win is a 2 point home win against a DII team that was less than a foot from that 2pt attempt to tie the game.

I think if there is a change to the staff, it would be this week. But there is no confirmation on this. This is only speculation.
Think about it. You make a change now and see how the team responds. You are eliminated from the NEC picture, playing for pride now. You see how the staff and team responds. If they rattle off 3 in a row then you make those changes become official in 2017.
No matter what the record is the remaining 3 games, if you make changes to the staff at the end of the season then can't simply crown someone the next head coach. You have to do what's best for the program and have interviews.

But back to CCSU. CCSU is no cake walk. They just went to Coastal Carolina and lost by less than 10pts. CCSU has played some tough teams leading up to this game.
I think this will be a game to the end.

It would make sense to me, if you are going to make a move, do it now.

Give Farison/miller 3 weeks to make their mark. If they do well, you can give them longer look next year.

I think if it does not happen this week, Farison/Miler, everyone is gone at end of year.

Gotta admit this makes sense. As uncomfortable as it makes me feel it makes sense. I hope they give this staff one more year. But if it happens, it happening like the "0 RMC" says this week...it makes sense.

I hate this talk. They are so close. Putting together drives, stopping on defense, changing the field with Special Taems. If all three come together for one game it would be tremendous. All these teams that are supposed to be great in the NEC look subpar against us. I think there's a reason. I believe we are that good. Good enough to make good teams look mediocre and show we are only a few plays away from looking really good and winning.

Championship teams find a way to win those games. SFU, Dukes and now SHU did that against RMU. They all took RMU's best shot and won.
I would rather play an average game knowing that I'm going to hear it in films vs playing my best and still coming up short.
They are close and perhaps they will put it together against CCSU.

I think they are close. It's evident that we are just an experienced offense away from being at the top of the NEC. Unfortunately, about a year away and since it's already been 3, I regret to say I think the staff is gone at the end of the season

I have to believe this staff gets another year due to all their injuries alone rt? They never really got off the ground. Injuries.. guys asking for their releases... youthfulness, yet they are improving weekly. They haven't played one week with the team that they expected to field. I've been catching up on the history of the program threw all of you guys. I can tell how bad you guys want this turned around. I want to see this program successful as well...

I can't see being the lone reason the entire staff comes back is because of injuries. Sure they lost key players because of injuries.
But you can't wave that flag all season long. There would be no Gee Stanley this season if Jimmy Mason was not injured. Yes we lost Blake but that was done during Spring Ball and he was injured by his own teammate during a 'thud' drill and a player went low and took out his knee. So you had several months to either attempt to get a late recruit (JUCO) or get your backups ready like Satcher.

The OL is a position the staff knew that would be filled with youth.

The biggest hit because of injuries has to be the QB position. Barr was not healthy towards the end of camp. Brumbaugh gets injured in Game 1 and lost for the season. Then we go with Romanchek while still trying to keep Chase's red-shirt while Carroll just sits waiting. Then you throw Chase in against YSU and he doesn't last a quarter. And finally you go with Carroll.

I agree with you ORMC, the QB position is the issue that has killed us. I feel if we had somebody comparable buechel this team would have 4-5 wins right now. That was the difference in the Duquesne game, a QB. If Matt was healthy and played this season like he ended last season, I think this team has 4-5 wins already. I know the saying is always "next man up" but there's only so many "next men" before you run out and start having a drop off

Not to take away from any of the kids that have played this season, they have all played their hearts out and given a ton of guts, but you can see the difference in the Steelers from roethlisberger to Landry jones. Unfortunately this team is in the same situation except worse

RMU is not a scoring team this season but if they have a shot against CCSU, they need to score early in the 1st quarter. CCSU is getting out-scored 66-10.

One big, key as you watch or listen to the game, is who can establish a rushing attack. Both teams average less than 100 yds rushing per game. And both teams give up over 150yds per game on D.

Pass Defense is a concern for both teams. CCSU gives up over 260yds per game and on the season given up 16 passing TDs.
RMU gives up 213yds per game but have given up 15 passing TDs this season.

Statistically, CSSU has a better offense. RMU has a better D but you have to also look at who the teams have played.
CCSU - Lafayette/James Madison/Bowie State/Bryant/Penn/Wagner/Coastal Carolina
RMU - Alderson Broaddus/Dayton/YSU/Malone/Liberty/SFU/Dukes/SHU

CCSU's offense runs through their 6'6" SO-QB, Jacob Dolegala. He is averaging over 240yds passing per game with 8TDs and 5INTs.
RMU's Defense has to get to the Levcik like QB but CCSU has only given up 12 sacks on the season. While on the flip-side, RMU's QBs have been hit/sack a lot. RMU has given up 32 sacks in 8 games.

If RMU does not have at least a 10-0 lead by the end of the 1st quarter, CCSU could pull off the road win.

I think you are right ORMC with regards to rushing. If RMU can get the running game going, it will help tremendously with the passing and vice versa. Also, I think the play calling needs to be varied to keep D on its toes.

Without looking at the numbers, I do think the sack totals are way down since Carroll has been the starter. He seems more apt to step up in pocket and get rid of the ball much quicker when he knows a blitz is coming or is feeling the pressure. I think that, added with the improvement of the guys on the line, has really helped with sacks.

EDIT: and maybe I am being overly optimistic, but I think if RMU had Beuchel (sp?) the would have beat AB, Malone, DUQ, SFU, SHU. I really believe that, and I think at worst they would maybe lose one game in the NEC. Having a consistent passing game does wonders for the running game. I am sure I have said it on this board, but I really think they are good NEC QB away from winning conference. To echo what Ty said, I think the R-chk and Carroll have played their butts off in tough situations and should be commended for the effort they have put in. They are true Colonials.

"RMU is not a scoring team this season"

Quite an impressive observation Original_RMC !!! LOL, that was just for fun.

Just a reminder, Banny's radio show is on tonight @7:00 970AM. Shov and Banny do a great job with it. Always seem to get some insight on a particular player or just some good info on past week/coming game. It really is worth a listen I think.

I always try my hardest not to demean a kid but when did Matt Barr become Brett Favre? I think Matt has some potential but he won what? 1 game in HS? Threw what? 4/5 TDs to 15 Ints last season? Played in one game this season against a DII team and looked very mediocre? I have nothing against the kid, and he very well could be the answer next year but I just have not seen anything to wow me into proclaiming he is the answer.

Now granted, it would be tough for anyone to play QB this year with the injuries and inexperience so I say that with a grain of salt but some one here seem to believe Barr is the answer to all problems. I thought Brumbaugh beat him out preseason?

As for the current situation, I have seen a couple practices recently and the Bodeman kid impresses me immensely. Unsure if his leg is healed fully or not but in watching a recent practice you could not tell which had me wondering if he still qualifies for a red-shirt?
It appeared to be just him and Carroll practicing.

As painful as it has been there is definitely a silver lining because anyone worth their salt can see the improvements and the growing pains right before our very eyes. Over the next several weeks I look for things to click just that much more. We might even be able to steal a win or two.

Nobody called Barr brumbaugh. But if you watch him, he is definitely the best QB on the roster. He did not lose the job in preseason, he tore his bicep during bear crawls that occurred because nobody was in their rooms for room checks. When he was healthy, he showed the most promise of anybody on the roster. However, chases highlight tape looked remarkable, I think that kid definitely has a future, and if he continues to develop by next preseason and gets healthy, we may very well see him climb the depth chart. The kid has a cannon and hits guys on the money consistently

Oh I didn't know he injured his arm with those bear crawls. So if the team was mature and didn't make that very disappointing mistake, Barr could be healthy all year.
Interesting....didn't know that caused the injury.
