Can anybody update the out of state fans on how camp is going? How is the QB Battle shaping up?
Does the OL look as if they've progressed? How does that Defensive Secondary look? Thanks in advance!! Go BobbiMo!!

All I’ve heard is... Camp is TUFF! Only one and a half break all day. Players (upper class men) contemplating quitting or going off sick. Staff seems to be setting a tone for expectations this year.

It was the same during off season weight training and conditioning! I like it!

No real battles yet just a lot of...turning boys into men! (IMO)

No info on the team, but I believe Glenn Davis was added to the team as an assistant coach. He and Nick Alamaio are the two new coaches.

Davis was at YSU for a bit, I think most recently at Savannah State, and has experience coaching in the secondary.

I mentioned recently that every opponent on RMU's schedule, with the exception of Cent. Conn., have their rosters up. Cent. Conn. now has its 2019 roster up on its website. RMU still does not. If I don't know who the players and coaches are, I have a lot less interest in attending the games.

I’m with you GoRMU. Funny that the first thing you see on Twitter acct. is ticket sales info., yet nowhere on there is anything about the product they are selling! Poor marketing 101!

I have heard that through 1 full week of camp there are at least 6 kids who have thrown in the towel. That’s the bad news. The good news is... there were over100 players signed up!
More bad.... one of the dropouts was a highly recruited defensive player. Not sure which.
More good.... I saw at least 7 qbs at scrimmage Saturday!

Wasn't he pretty enthusiastic about being an RMU commit? Not sure what it says that a guy is leaving just a couple weeks into his first camp.
And these camps are TOUGH ALL OVER! I have reports coming in from Ferris St, Ball State, Michigan State... It's no joke out here this year for incomings. Good luck where you land young man!! #GoBobbiMo

It will come down to three QB's with George and Caleb leading the way. The one frosh is pretty talented.

Our weakness is safety. Pretty banged up and relying on two transfers (One is a grad transfer from Albany and unsure about the other). Still no roster so...?

This camp is no different than any other. Even Banana's camps were tough. Welcome to college football where you are the university's investment and product all in one. They own your ass from Sun up to Sun down.

I'm hoping this team can come together. I just do not like playing a team like Buffalo week 1. In fact, I hate it.

From a coaching perspective, I don't mind Buffalo Week 1. Treat it like a scrimmage, see who comes to play. Emphasize the basics to your various schemes. You never know what might happen - Buffalo has to replace its QB and lost its top four receivers and a tight end.

Play simple, play fast, and use the lessons to win a couple of very winnable games against Virginia State, Dayton and VMI before looking to upset YSU.

Checked the websites of five D-III western Pennsylvania football programs last evening. Everyone includes their 2019 roster. As previously mentioned, every one of RMU's opponents has had their rosters up for a while now. I am sure that the athletic department at RMU, an FCS program that has a game against an FBS program in two weeks, has a good reason for not having its roster up yet. ;)

Ahhhh a glass half full kind of guy. I like it.

In all honesty I just do not want to see a team that already lacks depth get banged up week 1 and lose any MOJO that they might have coming out of camp. When we start having winning seasons and returning with some real depth yeah, have at it scheduling MAC schools.

When your a long time struggling program, one way to build it up is to get money on paydays that help cover the cost of the program and gain money to purchase things kids come to programs for today.

Taking the Buffalo game helps build the program from inside out. I’m sure there were people in Appalachia States forum complaining before they went to Michigan and won too.

Wrong, you build confidence and wins first, then you take on the MAC champs. If we were 6-5 or 7-4 last season and returned at least 6 guys on each side of the ball I'd be ok with the move.

Appalachian State was I-AA champions the year they beat UM. They were very good the year prior as well.

I get it. I understand it. But until you are ready for it, it does no one any good. We lost to a decent D-II team a couple years back. Unsure if we are any better or deeper today than what we were then.

For a team already lacking quality depth at many positions I hope we do not come home banged up.

I get that perspective, but at the same time, this is a contract that was in place for a long time. Same with Bowling Green next year. So I don't think it was really anticipated that the program would be in this position, where it is completely rebuilding from the ground up with a lot of young guys.

I also don't think it's advantageous to back out of the contract. I'm sure it could be done, but it could come at a financial cost, which would hurt a program that isn't swimming in resources. Playing these games could be a huge financial help for a couple seasons. You certainly don't want to risk injury, but it wouldn't be much different playing NDSU or JMU again. But you're probably making an extra $100k or so compared to those games, which is big.

I get it. I just do not like it.

Does anyone know what RMU is getting for this game? I know the big boys (Bama) pay lessor opponents but I cannot see Buffalo handing over $100,000 to play RMU. I'd be shocked if we get $20,000 or anything at all. Could be wrong. Does anyone really know?

My understanding of past MAC buy games for other FCS schools is the payout is typically in the $200-300k range, with $300k being the upper end. That was a few years ago.

I guarantee you Robert Morris is getting money for this game. It's the only reason to play it.

Glad you agree.

I did some research and yes, high end schools like Bama pay big money to play the Citadel. Still not convinced RMU is getting $100,000 from Buffalo?

Ah well. I hope we surprise and put up a good fight.

Buffalo just became a player in the MAC and they did that with a senior led, experienced squad. They lost a ton of starters on both sides of the ball. That said, they also had a lot of players see action last season. They wont be in championship form in 2 weeks. Playing them now is the right time to go there and show what this team can be about this year. I hope we can go in there and match their intensity, show growth of the program, get their money and push them for a dub

RMU got $400,00 to play North Dakota State a couple Years ago. But then again they have trouble scheduling opponents to come out there.

Wow. Did not realize that.

Well I hope Buffalo is giving us something near that so we can hire someone to update the website and roster on a regular basis. :D

Some of the money went to the air charter out and back and the balance to purchase back pack and other equipment for the team. RMU is always late publishing rosters and schedule. I agree starting with Buffalo is not good for the team, only good probably for the $$$. All the majors start with an easy first game schedule for a reason.

The lack of updates via social media and the official university site hurts the program. There is no buzz about football right now. There is no excitement outside of the program. The lack of an updated roster is sad. Other programs in the NEC are already announcing captains, showing pictures/videos from camp..etc.

Many things wrong (positions - no heights and weights appear to be updated) but I'll take it.

And for the last time. To everyone on the site. I've been around the block and understand the RMU cupcake game for a bigger player (never thought I'd refer to Buffalo as a "bigger player"). I get it. I just do not like it for this team and this moment. The Kardashians make money. I get it, I have to live with it, I just do not like it.

A couple takeaways. Both Thimmons and Autouno are gone. I believe this was already mentioned but Autouno left for Westminster where he will play QB and they hired his dad to coach Dline.

Thimmons I'm unsure of where he went?

We did gain transfers in Harris (57), Suppie (97), and the Flyin Hawaiin (99). Add Sanford and Pulley and our dline is not THAT bad. I like having a 300lbs.+ guy who smokes cigarettes and drinks whiskey in the middle. Allison moved to CB and Wanat at LB.

Former OC Mike Miller took a job with XFL NYC as WR coach.

It's been a long time since we have had veteran OL made up of JRs and SRs. We definitely have that this year and that excites me about the offense.
I don't mean to jump ahead too much, but I suspect that the OL will be a major focus for the 2020 recruiting class.
It will be interesting to see how the JUCO transfers do on the DL.
Looking over the roster confirms that the offense looks to be very promising and the defense has a lot of unknowns.
I am glad the roster is up, it adds to the excitement for the coming season as we get familiar the players.
Go Colonials!

Besides the Antuono/Thimmons news that irish_buffalo mentioned, a couple other departures I noticed:
- DL Derian Smith. He didn't play last year, but I was hoping he'd be back. He showed a lot of promise early, so it's a shame he's not on the team.
- DB Tevaul Brown. He played a fair amount, though I think he was playing less as the season went along. His departure may have been mentioned previously, but the secondary doesn't have a ton of experience so every bit will be felt
- LB Brayden Jones. Local linebacker who I was excited about. Thought he'd have a real chance at playing time this year. Guess not.
- OL John Sheldon. Any time you lose a lineman with game experience, it hurts. At least there's a lot of experience back.

Also noticed that Zack Gilbert, a former Pitt player who wasn't able to play there due to a heart condition and who signed with RMU in the winter, isn't on the roster.

Plus some newcomers I'm curious about and don't recall seeing much on their commitments:
- QB Breon Jackson. Looks like he played at Vermilion Community College.
- DB Mason Gray: This is the Albany transfer that had been mentioned. Nice to have an ID. He didn't play due to an injury last year, but he has starting experience. That should help a lot.
- WR Deonte White: Apparently bounced around a bit from Virginia State to Glenville State.
- LB Teryn Savage: Not much info out there at all. Looks like he played at Hudson Valley Community College.

Thanx to all for the additional info on players and roster! If Dline plays strong and secondary looks a little better.... than I am looking forward to watching a much improved team and season. It’s gonna be rough at the beginning but what doesn’t kill you............

Go Mo!

Gray will more than likely start at one of the safety position. The new DL will help and heard they are causing havoc during camp. And LBs should be better.

I just like that there are older options. A lot of the freshmen who played last year showed promise but clearly needed another year or two of weight training and maturation. Having some bigger, older bodies on the line and at linebacker to help deepen the roster is huge.

I'm very excited about this season for this reason! The Oline has taken their shots, but being an older and more experienced group will be key in offensive progression!! Didn't know about the DLine transfers, hope to get that ball pressure back from a couple seasons ago. Bring that fire BobbiMo!!
