Training camp is a month away. The opener against Eastern Kentucky is two months away. Yes, football season is indeed almost here.
With training camp inching closer, the official roster update for the 2014 football team should be out soon - perhaps even this week. With it we'll get a glimpse at which players will officially be in training camp, including any unannounced departures after spring ball, suspensions carrying over, walk-ons who will be in camp versus those who will join after classes start, etc.
That also includes a handful of additions that occur every year but don't make it into a release.
ColonialsCorner can confirm at least one such addition: New Brighton (Pa.) WR Craig Thompson will be part of the team this year, and it's believed he'll be there for the start of camp. Thompson had 40 catches for 484 yards and nine touchdowns last year. He's a little undersized at 5-foot-10, but he's coming off three touchdown catches in the Penn-Ohio game this weekend. He'll be added to the mix at receiver.
