Alone at the top. Huge opportunity Monday

RMU beat Bryant 79-65 and pretty much dominated the second half. Even when Bryant tried to mount a comeback, RMU kept them just far enough away.

Since Wagner and Sacred Heart lost, RMU is now 4-1 and alone atop the NEC. Which makes for a huge opportunity against CCSU Monday afternoon - a win would allow RMU to finish the road trip 3-1. Plus, SFBK and LIU play each other and Wagner plays SHU.

Considering RMY plays 5 of its next 6 at home after Monday, a win could really set them up to seize control of the league.

RMU got out of rhythm for awhile and Bryant got it down to 9, but then they pushed the score out again. A win Monday would make for a real nice start in the conference.

Good team win, never really in doubt. Guys are coming out and playing great d.

Did not seem like a great shooting day overall but they did enough and played hard on D.

Hopefully Thomas gets back out there and helps.

Ya nice win @ CCSU.

Thomas still out & also Tracey is out too. Although I would rather Toole play McEwen who is a much better shooter than Tracey.

Hopefully Koby can come back soon as he is a force on the boards with his athleticism & did win NEC ROY last year.

McEwen is a better shooter, but I think Treacy is a better playmaker. I was impressed with his work against Louisville. I think the team struggled to generate offense when Jon Williams and Matty McConnell were both off the floor this weekend.

Hopefully both he and Koby are back soon. I'd rather have Toole have a full roster to work with and guys just fighting for playing time instead of questions about whether they're good to go.

Per the basketball team's Instagram account, looks like Koby practiced today. Didn't see Dante. Curious to see if either is in uniform tomorrow night.

Matty McConnell may not get all-NEC recognition, but his leadership was evident tonight. What a performance.

RMU was sharp. Sacred Heart responded a bit in the first half and again in the second, but RMU never blinked. Charles Bain had some huge buckets and defensive plays.

Sign of a winning team: Guys pick each other up. Malik Petteway wasn't good tonight, but Bain stepped up. Josh Williams wasn't a huge factor, so McConnell was better offensively.

Also, I think that's three straight leading scorers Matty and Cam Wilbon have teamed up to shut down. Sean Hoehn had just 11 points, and he's the 3rd leading scorer in the NEC.

Agree with all your comments. Matty was great. He isn't the shooter I thought he'd be, but man he's a winner. Bane's two 3s were huge, as were Matty's defense and drives to the hoop down the stretch. Nice win.

Another great TEAM win. They don't rely on one scorer, points come from all over. Wilbon will light it up soon. Kid is tough and can play.

Wilbon moves and slashes even when the rest of the team is in pass around the perimeter mode. I like his game.

I would rather Toole have the option to play who he chooses but while Tracey has been out the team is playing well. Not sure if is just a coincidence or not tho.

I think McEwen’s driving game & shot but he could improve in the passing department for sure.

Treacy was in uniform last night, so I'm guessing he's available again and McEwen is just ahead of him in Toole's mind.

Only guy who wasn't in uniform was Koby. Considering we keep seeing him in practice on social media, I'm beginning to wonder if something else besides an injury/illness is keeping him out.

What I heard recently is that Koby has been a coaches decision. If that is true, then he is in the Toole doghouse.

Maybe. But for him to not even be in uniform is odd. David Cole hasn't played since November, I think. But he's still been in uniform for every game, though.

So if Koby had been in uniform for these games and just not played, I'd definitely chalk it up to Toole wanting more from him and Chris Coalmon and Cameron Wilbon both playing fairly well. But since Koby's not even in uniform, it's just a bit more bizarre.

I really think he could be a key peice on this team.

He could come off the bench and play a defensive role while being able to score in the paint (which is desperately needed on this team).

Really hope he plays again this year & preferably the sooner the better (as he still seems engaged on the bench).

Hard to see it as an injury either as he was dunking the ball in warmups yesterday.

I think we all agree that Thomas is a good player and can help, question is will he?

I still would say he is in doghouse. Only other option is that he was hurt/sick, then got a concussion during recovery.

If coach can count on him, he is a pretty easy 8 to 12 pts a game and 5 rbs. A block here and there and steal also. Imagine that added to this team, big key would be 100% focus on D. Can't sleep with how they are playing now.

Thanks CI. Would have to have been. I just hope he is doing what Toole needs him to do be a participating member of the team. We all know Toole is tough on the guys, but when they listen and bust ass they are successful.

Thomas can really be one of the greats that have come through the team, but he needs to want it and do what it takes to do so.

Just watched the game. Free throws hurt, but can't win them all. Refs were meh. Still no Thomas.

Ya Thomas definitely could have made an impact especially after Mendy got ejected at halftime.

Don’t remember which SFU player got ejected but probably not as valuable of a player as Mendy is to RMU.

The refs sucked too.

Mendy was active inside and had 8 first half points so he was a big loss. I wish Pettiway would stop taking 18 footers. He did hit one but he is a force inside, not out there. I was surprised that they stopped the game with Matty at the line to celebrate 1000 career points. Very happy for him however I don't know how much of a distraction that was. It had to have some impact.

The offense looked potent but defense could not get it done in Saturday. I don't usually criticize the officials for a loss because if they're bad they are typically equally bad for both teams. However I saw no reason for the disproportionate 40 to 18 free throw attempts. Even the partisan announcers on Front Row were saying "I guess there was no contact" when RMU went inside while our D was called trip after trip.

Toole crushed the officials on the postgame radio show. He even said he hoped to get a call from the league about his comments!

But he was also pretty unhappy with the defense, especially in the first half. We'll see if losing two games while playing good offense will serve as a wake-up call to the team that they have to be sharp defensively in order to win.

I still say this team needs Koby Thomas back, even for 15 minutes a game off the bench. I have no idea what his status is, but if he's healthy, Toole needs to play him. His length and athleticism could be a big boost.

I agree on Koby. Would be a big time player (NEC ROY) added to an alresdy successful team.

Big week this week. Really need to bounce back & win these two at home (Bryant, & CCSU).
