Robert Morris received a commitment this weekend from Florida athlete Erich Maine. The 6-foot-1, 221 pound Maine played running back and linebacker for Village Academy HS in Delray Beach, Florida. It was first reported by the Palm Beach Post.

He made his official visit this weekend and committed at the end of the visit.

According to the Palm Beach Post, Maine had 84 tackles, four sacks, and four interceptions at linebacker this year. He also ran for 999 touchdowns and eight touchdowns as a running back. Based off his size, it seems like that the Colonials will look at Maine on defense first.

Linebacker and defensive line are the two weak spots on the defense right now in terms of depth. Though there isn't a likely starting spot available for any freshman, there's a huge senior class at linebacker, meaning this year's crop of freshmen could redshirt but need to be ready to play right away in 2014.

One thing's clear though: RMU likes versatility in this class. Nelson Lee Lucas-Murphy was recruited at linebacker but played some defensive line in his senior year. Nic Lamica played tight end as well as linebacker. And Maine can play on both sides of the ball.
