The Colonials won back to back games for the first time this season, moving into a tie for first place in the process.

Lucky Jones had 18 points and five rebounds, while freshman Elijah Minnie was a perfect 5-5 from the field for 13 points as Robert Morris held off Central Connecticut 72-60, moving to 3-1 in the NEC and 7-9 overall.

Some thoughts...

First off, how about Elijah Minnie? He is on some type of roll. After a perfect shooting performance against Wagner (3-3 from the field, 3-3 from the line) he bettered his efforts, going 5-5 from the field today, and 2-2 from three (1-1 from the line). Not only was he great on the offensive end, but he was very active on defense in the zone. Each game, the local product seems to get better. This is a great sign for Robert Morris.

A few players slept in too late, and were late this morning. Marcquise Reed, Kavon Stewart, and Aaron Tate all came off the bench after starting the past few games, though it was not clear who all was late. Either way, Leo Gomis, Minnie, and David Appolon got the start alongside Lucky Jones and Rodney Pryor. RMU came out guns blazing, clearly unaffected by the change. That was a nice sign. Gomis was solid on the block, and Jones was aggressive early.

Speaking of Jones, another high energy performance. "Lucky got some shots in rhythm, and he's mixing his shot up. When his activity and energy are high, we play well," Andy Toole said after the contest. Jones finished with 18 on 7-14 shooting, and like he always does, provided excellent effort on both ends. These past few games, Jones looks like his old self.

Another nice game for Kavon Stewart. Eight points, four dimes and only one turnover. He also closed the game out, hitting a few clutch runners, and dropping the ball off after nice penetration for an layup to Stephan Bennett. Overall, an excellent performance, lets just make sure that alarm clock is set next time...

Marcquise Reed wasn't great, going 2-7 from the field but he was aggressive and got to the line six times, making four. Reed finished with nine points, and had a few nifty assists, including this one. https://twitter.com/tonyromanello/status/554039294013485057

Rodney Pryor went for 11 points on 5-10 shooting. I thought he attacked the basket well, and missed a few bunnies that normally go down. Teams are running him off the three point line now and he seems to be adjusting well. He also has some series ups, providing a few big dunks in this one.

Few odds and ends: Gotta rebound better. Brandon Peel had 18 boards alone in this one! Zone was better than it was at Wagner, but still needs to be more active. Hawk was much better today than Thursday night. Aaron Tate led the team in rebounding with seven. 6-16 from three isn't God awful, but RMU missed some open looks.

Overall, balanced scoring and solid defense was enough to finish the road trip 2-1. Any road win in the league is a good win, just ask St. Francis Brooklyn, who lost at Mount St. Mary's today.

The win moves RMU into a tie for first place in the league with both St Francis teams. RMU will host the Terriers on Friday night at the Chuck, a 9pm tip on ESPNU. Easily the biggest home game of the season.
