Last Non-Conference Game
RMU (2-10) @ Georgia (6-3)
When: Tuesday 29th @ 7pm
Where: Anthens, Georgia
Radio: WPIT AM 730
TV: SEC Network & ESPN 3
Game tidbits-
RMU is looking to ride into conference play with some momentum in trying to upset the Georgia Bulldogs men's basketball team. A win vs Georgia would give the media, fans, and the general public some (more) confidence about the Colonials heading into NEC play. Even keeping it (score) a close game would help to do that, but, a win would be much better and more enjoyable.
This is a winnable game for RMU. Obviously, they haven't played great up to this point, but they did hang tight with a good Duquesne team just over a week ago. Georgia is not a great basketball team, but they are a good/ respectable team this year. RMU will need to play a really solid game to win and probably their best of the year. Hopefully Toole has them ready to play this game as it is the last tuneup to conference play...
3 Keys to Victory.
1. Batman needs his Robin
RMU wingman Rodney Pryor has been great for this team. He needs others to step up and score too! If Matty McConnell and Minnie (Still also) can have a good, effective game along with Rodney, RMU will have a chance.
2. Let's get physical & Rebound!
RMU's bigs (Minnie, Giles, & Frederick) need to rebound well and stay out of FOUL Trouble! Can Andre Frederick finally give RMU a good game off of the bench? Also, Giles needs to stay out of foul trouble (Andre too) so RMU doesn't have to play Still or Pryor as the anchor of the zone.
3. Play hard & don't have a lot of TO's
RMU will need a full team effort to be able to beat this SEC team in Georgia. Valuing the ball and passing it well will give RMU more chances to score. The more shots you get, the more chances you have to score. Pryor has had too many TO's (turnovers) of recent and already has 41! on the season (for about 3.4 per game). Too many in my book. He needs to take care of the ball being the team's senior leader.
Bonus Point: Point Guard Play
Right now, with Lester sick with Mono, the Colonials only have one "true" point guard on the roster. That guy is.... Kavon Stewart. Last game at the Dukes, he passed the ball really well having 8 assists. His field goal percentage, however, was horrendous as he shot 1-10 from the field for 10%. IMO, there is no reason for him to take that many shots (I say 5-6 max a game for him) and he needs to make them at at least a 30% clip (not asking for much here lol). He also needs to improve from the charity stripe (only 52% for him on the season). Let's hope he gives Bobby Mo a good, all-around effort v.s Gerogia tomorrow (Tues 29th) so RMU has a chance at a victory.
Go Bobby Mo...
And don't forget to watch the game on TV on SEC Network or online on ESPN 3 to cheer on RMU...
