I was at RMU last night taking in their night scrimmage and here are some of the things I noticed.

Starting Lineups:

LT - Max Robertson
LG - Blake Chambliss
C - Nick Faraci
RG - Josh Thiel
RT - Mike Lamb

TE....Nic Lamica did not dress...not injuried

WR - Luke Centofanti, Warren Robinson, Jamison Williams...others rotated in. Kyle Buss did not dress, not injuried

RB - Rameses Owens who is (according to coaches) about 240, strong & fast.

QB - Matt Barr, who is probably closer to 6'4" and well over 200lbs. This kid could be something special.

DEs - Ryan Lewis & Forrest Mason
DT - Zack Zamiska

OLBs - Jimmy Mason & Gerald Ferguson
MLBs - Mike Stojkovic & Jake Tkach

CBs - Cameron Sutherland & Drew Allen. Branch is coming off a hamstring injury but did run with the 2nd team.

S - Sam Woods & Shane McFarland...didn't see Andy Smigiera dressed unless he changed numbers.

1st series had the offense starting strong taking the ball down the field quickly behind the legs of Barr and some of his throws. Barr is going to make mistakes and if he can learn quickly not to take sacks...the offense should be able to score this year. But the opening series results in a missed FG by Connor Shennan. Young man has a monster leg.

I thought RB Cole Blake opened some eyes and could be in position to backup Owens.

RMU has a big pool of talent at WR. With Jamison and Barr both being FR, we could witness 4 years of something special.

The defense played well but a few mental mistakes by the younger players lead to big plays. That happens but if those players want to see the field, those mental mistakes must be resolved in camp. Mental mistakes is what killed RMU last season.

Overall it was a good scrimmage. Barr has a chance to be something special. Owens is going to be a horse if he can stay healthy. The OL....they are a little undersized but hopefully in this offense they can open some holes. Barr has legs to help his OL if they get beat.

We saw a lot of QBs last night but was shocked that Derik Abbott only got a handful of plays. He has running for his life but got yards and moved the chain. The other QBs did not impress me. Sure Brumbaugh had a long TD pass but if was a duck that should have been picked off but the DB took a bad angle. WR caught the ball and ran into the endzone.

The thing that stood out the most to me was the lack of energy and excitement by the team. I have never been on a sideline that was so quiet. And they had a great crowd there last night...probably more than some of the later home games in 2014.

Let me know if you have any questions I'll do my best to answer them. I didn't completely focus on the scrimmage...I was enjoying the time on the sideline with the other former players catching up on life and talking about the glory days...haha

Lamica has a pulled quad, he is injured. Blake backed up Owens last season then won the starting job for the game and Dayton and had a season ending ankle injury on the kick return

And Ryan Richards and smigiera are both the starting safeties and they were out injured as well
