Last (regular season) home game of the year! Wow...it went by fast!

Game tonight is at 7pm at the Palumbo Center in Pittsburgh vs Central Connecticut St.

Come out tonight! Bring family, friends, aunts, uncles, etc! Lol everyone!

I have to think it's just youth. They seem too emotional, a bad series and they can't bounce back. Matty had a tough game shooting but played great otherwise. I know I say it a lot and appears it's not going to change but losing petteway hurts a lot.

Missed a lot of inside shots, fts, and 3s. Small uptick in shooting percentage in each of them easy win, but not meant to be. Sometimes wish burke would be more selfish on O and just run it.

I totally get the sentiment with Dachon, but I'm glad he hasn't gone that route. It can be a really tough habit to break once it's no longer needed. Plus, basketball history is full of guys who tried to do it by themselves and failed.

I agree with the thought that this is just a sign of inexperience. They're not mentally strong enough yet, and that includes Dachon and Matty at times. Matty wants to win so bad that sometimes he gets stubborn. I want him to drive so much more often and just live at the foul line. Forget 3s until the off-season.

With Dachon it's the gamble on defense. He has to be more careful to not get out of position because some of his teammates don't react fast enough to cover.

The freshmen are the freshmen. They all have a lot of talent but still things to work on.

The future is really bright if this team sticks together. They can still have a lot of success this year, too, but they're going to need to really dig deep.

Absolutely agree that this team will be really, really, really good if they stick together and Toole keeps adding pieces where needed.

I also they have the talent to win NEC tourney.

They can certainly win if they play their "A game" for 3 straight. Getting a home game now looks a lot harder but still can be done if they win both this week & 1 of the 3 2nd place teams goes 0-2...

But, it's a tough task with games at the Mount & SFPA.

We'll see if they can focus & get hot...if they do, they have as good of a chance as anyone to win the NEC Tournament.

I'd like to see them add a player who plays down low to go along with the PG and SF Juco verbal commits they already have. BTW, I didn't understand the recent offer to a JC SG given this. I just checked out Brian Fobb and he's averaging 27 & 13, shooting FG at 57%, 3s at 45% & FT 87%. He recently had a 46 point game and went 11-16, 3-4 & 11-11. I get it coach.

So for Fobb, we just offered him? Does he has any other offers?

And I agree we need to add a good sized PF/C to the class. A JUCO player is fine or a somewhat talented freshman.

Fobbs also has a St. Peter's offer. No other D1 offers according to VerbalCommits. He may be a "Let's wait and see how the roster shakes out" situation, even with his scoring ability.

As for the rest of recruiting, RMU has five offers out to JuCo big men and three to high school seniors. By the way, one of those guys - Savior Akuwovo, a high school kid from New Jersey - is announcing tonight.

Right now RMU has three spots - Xavier Williams, Ronnie Gombe and Teavon Ashmeade. Gombe is graduating. Williams' injuries appear to have forced him away from the team. And Ashmeade appears to have left, since he hasn't been on the bench.

Greg Shead and Atem Bior fill up two. One spot open for now.

Bior is listed at 6-7 & seems to have some size to him...so he's probably a PF in the Toole system. He's shooting 27% from 3 but 78% from the free throw line.

Ogeneyole has offers from the likes of Pitt, Wake, Georgetown & Arizona State so he'd be a great recruit even for Toole.

Coach was listening! Verbal Commits just posted that RMU offered 6-8 240 PF Sarion McGee of Beckley Prep (WV). Looks like a good post player for NEC.

RMU missed out on the NJ big man, by the say. Savior Akuwovo is headed to Howard.

Basketball scholarships are pretty fluid and the public is usually the last to know which schools are ultimately in the mix. But Akuwovo used to play at St Anthony's under the legendary Bob Hurley before it shut down in the spring. Considering Lucky Jones is a St Anthony's grad and Friars alum Tray Woodall is on the RMU staff, gotta believe RMU was in the mix and it just didn't work out.

It's ok...wasn't meant to be I guess but Howard isn't very good at Hoops lol.

This article says that RMU was one of Savior's four finalists. He would have looked good in the middle for us.

It's a concern that per VC, Fobbs and McGee have only one other D1 offer between them (Fobbs also has St Peters). That was the norm years ago but has not been the case under Rice or Toole.

Fobbs is playing really good tho...could be a Karvel/Pryor type get we don't know...

I don't take the other "offers" too seriously. Some kids have an insignificant conversation with a coach and put out on social media that they have an offer. Other kids are just the opposite. Some kids at lesser known, basketball, JUCOs or high schools that may be getting interest or offers are often overlooked and not reported by the scouting websites.

Right and not all offers are reported well to the websites either...

It seems like the juco guys might be less likely to have good info on other schools. You'd think the players would want to share who wants them to raise their profile.

Ya either some are bad at marketing themselves or they're fine with the offers they've received IDk..
