Is RMU set at QB for the upcoming season? Let's get some discussion going - every football fan loves to talk about the QB position.

I assume Matt Barr is currently the solid #1 guy. He has good size, a good arm and reasonable mobility. He proved himself well enough last year as a freshman that it is reasonable to expect good things from him this season. Are his talents suited to Mike Miller's offense?

How do you see the QB depth chart?

Are the QBs benefiting from Mike Miller's coaching?

I think your depth Chart would have to look something like this based on spring practice and game.

Barr
Brumbaugh
Bodeman
Romanchak
Carrol

I know that the QBs have a lot of work to learn Miller's system. Having Hicks there resulted in bad habits and not learning much progression when recognizing coverages. It like they had to start over and re-teach the QBs.
I would Barr would be tapped #1 QB heading into August but again it comes down to how he did in Spring Ball. We had zero coverage so we have no clue.
Entering into camp, here is my best guess to the depth chart entering August:
1. Barr
2. Brumbaugh
3. Carroll
4. Romanchak
5. Bodeman

Game-day depth chart for Alderson Broaddus could be:
1. Barr
2. Brumbaugh
3. Carroll
*Red-shirt Bodeman (that should be the goal but could easily could be the backup QB or at least 3rd if he has a great camp)

I think whoever has the best camp wins the QB job. I know when miller came in he told the offense, nobody that started on an offense that finished as poorly statistically as they did last year was garunteed anything. And I've also noticed some guys revitalized under miller. Especially Jamison williams. He didn't show much care last year, but under miller is a totally different reciever and I think that will hold true for a few guys. This offense may be a little too young to dominate, but I can garuntee they will be so much better prepared each and every week under miller

I was never a Big Barr fan. I think he has some tools but never liked the blame game that you could see from the sidelines. I also don't think he has the arm for Millers routes, he floated a lot of balls this spring and doesn't get over the middle patterns on time. I like Brumbaugh and hope he puts in the work to become a contender.
I hear that some of the young linemen have been around and have met with Brumbaugh and Carrol. It seems they have taken a leadership role with meeting the new guardians up front and working with them. I haven't heard the same about Barr. Not being over critical could just be he isn't on campus.
One last thing on leadership is that Blake Chamblis is doing a great job getting young guys up to speed. He is being a great elder statesman.
There really is a lot of excitement with this team, I think it's a mix of key returning key players, this class and Mike Miller.
It should be fun.

I was never super high on barr, however I do think he was more equipped under hicks system than the other guys. Also, I think you saw his struggles when he played with a lack of confidence. The kid clearly had no confidence after his injury until the bryant game and he was throwing great against Bryant. His receivers also had a ton of drops. And the reason brumbaugh and Carroll are around campus is because they live here, barr is from dayton ohio so unless he stays on campus in the summertime it's a 5 hour commute for the kid. I don't think that's really his fault. But just my opinion. Having said all of that, I think there is a toss up at qb for the fall, I think whomever has the best August wins the job. Regardless of who it is, possibly even the freshman coming in. He did have a D1A offer in eastern Michigan that he passed on
