NEC TITLE COMING

Original_RMC what's this "Maybe next year" stuff. Never say die. We are the Colonials, we can do this!

Could they do it? Do they have the talent? Yes! Unfortunately we have not seen signs of late that this is likely. The needle has been pointing down. It would take something close to a 180. Games against top NEC teams should be competitive. I'll take that tonight and see where the game falls.

The Mount has the best fan base in the Conference (I wish I could say that about RMU). Their arena will be rocking this evening. The Colonials had to deal with playing the Mount's aggressive style in front of the Mount's aggressive fans last week and did not respond well. I am looking for the Colonials to respond much better this evening and pull off the upset. Go Colonials!

Pretty solid start. Tied midway through the 1st. Mount has had to work for some shots. Some early 3s by RMU.

Can't let Mount force turnovers or get hot from 3. And stay out of foul trouble (so far, so good).

Almost a disastrous end to the half, but what a response in the second. 14-2 run to take the lead with 12 minutes to go!

Take down Mount, Wagner and then SFPA then go dancing. Who's ready!
Stage one complete!

What a win. Held Mount to 2 points in first eight minutes, 21 total in the half. Dachon Burke with the block and dunk at the end. Basically an eight man rotation that included Seth Rouse knocked off RMU's chief rival on the road - oh, and St. Francis PA lost, too.

So RMU's main rivals are out in the quarterfinals and Bobby Mo is off to the semifinals. Huge, huge, huge.

Also, Toole chose no Gombe at all!

He got a DNP for tonight.

Seth Rouse got 5 minutes & drained a 3.

David Cole played 6 minutes...

RMU basically played 6 man rotation with Coalmon off the bench (if u don't count Rouse/Cole).

As Burke played 39 & Matty played 38 min tonight. With Thomas & Williams at 31 & 33 min respectively.

Bain played 26 & Coalmon got 22.

On to Wagner!

One other note, I think that having refs that held their whistles helped RMU being able to keep they limited rotation in.

Every year the RMU roster just dwindles as the season goes along. Toole seems to get the most out of his players when he only has a limited number of players to work with.

Dachon absolutely should have been named to the first team all NEC team, not second team. How sweet that he capped off the game by blocking the shot of the NEC MVP and then getting the ball for a slam as the game ended.

Did you notice Matty's blind over the head toss to send Dachon for the dunk? At least that's what I thought I saw in the hectic last few seconds.

Yes! That was a great pass by Matty!

No garentees at that point that an RMU player would go 2-2 at the line to put us up by 4 either.

I would have held it and not taken a chance of throwing it away, but it worked out great with the slam to put a lid on it.

That was just an amazing sequence with the block from behind, the quick toss out and finishing with the dunk to end the game
Also, did you notice with 2:46 to go in the game, Matty took a nice pass from Jon and finished with a two-handed dunk. The Colonials have some great dunkers, but we do not often see Matty making a dunk.

I think Matty thought, in that situation, that dunking it was the best option with the Mount's Wray right there under the bucket....less likely to get blocked.

Thomas & Burke are definitely the main dunkers on the team. Gombe can rock the rim too if he gets a good wind up lol.

Yeah I saw Matty drop it through. It happened quick. I remember another at PPG. Glad to see him finishing much stronger around the hoop. He got stuffed a lot in there prior to this year. Driving layups are going for him too. Spell checker always wants to change to Marty!

Haha I know! Always trying change Matty's name...

The last time we played Wagner we had a 10 point lead at the half and ended up losing by 13. That second half started a downhill slide for the Colonials.
We need to play 40 minutes the way we played the first 20 in that last game. Go Colonials!

Very true!

Has Wagner lost yet at home tho?

If not, it's time to change that.

Wagner has not lost at home. 15-0.

Some other tidbits - FDU and RMU are both alive as the No. 6 and No. 7 seeds. If they both won, it'd be first time since 1999 that the top three seeds failed to reach the NEC final. That year, No. 6 Mount St. Mary's beat No. 4 CCSU for the NEC championship.

If RMU wins, it'd be the first No. 7 seed to reach the final since CCSU did in 2004. No team seeded 7th or 8th has ever won an NEC title.

RMU is a wildcard. They can beat anyone in the conference on any court if they play like they did in then second half on Wednesday. But then there is the team that played first half too...

They played ok in the first half until the last 5-7 minutes or so...

Still, gotta put up more points on offense!

Minimum of 60 needed to beat Wagner but probably more. Maybe 70.

It can be done but RMU has to get off to a better start at the Spiro Center this time around.

Let's do it #RMCMB

Maybe it was an okay first half, until the 16-0 run messed it up. Same keys for me: stick with the plan regardless of score, take good shots, take care of the ball, drive, defend.

Yep...gotta get the ball in the bucket at a better rate, take care of the ball, & play tough D & they can_ win this game.

Down 10 at the half. Sound familiar? Tough place to put yourself. Having problems with Wagner's pressure. Too many of the 8 turnovers were unforced. Let's see what happens.

Down 12 now!

Offense is crap rn!

If it doesn't get going soon, we're cooked!

If this group comes back, look out. I think guys just getting another year older, a little more mature, and a little stronger in the weight room could be huge.

Plus Hopefully Petteway comes back healthy & we add Redshirt Junior G from Akron Josh Williams who is supposed to be a good player.

From what I hear, Josh Williams will be best shooter on team next year. Likely thetjuco pg and Washington will not be with team next year so at least 2 school's there. Who knows who else. I really hope Coalman and Bain stick around. I see a bright future for both of them. Burke and koby obviously huge to stay.

If they keep all them with the Williams Bros and Matty that would be great.

Sidenote, would love to see rouse get a ride.

Which JUCO pg are u talking about? Greg Shead? If your talking about Ashmeade then I would agree that he won't be back.

Go RMU
