Leondre Washington

You don't know what is playing out. Everyone is playing significant minutes. It's possible to get less time in a particular game depending on the flow. We saw that in a game with Matty. How the player reacts to that can have a more lasting impact.

His fit here has not been great. Chris wrote a great article on this prior to all this happening. https://chroniclingthecolonials.com/2018/02/21/1971/ with the whole backcourt likely back next season, and Josh Williams (who I have heard will be one of, maybe the best, players on the team) coming into the fold, you wonder what his role will be. If he's already complaining about minutes, he might as well get out now.

Every year on every team there is going to be players not happy with their playing time. Coach Toole has mentioned various times his approach to dealing with a player complaining about playing time is to inform them of the improvement he wants to see them make in practice in terms of effort and production. Some players respond well and can work their way to more playing time, others do not respond well and may wind up with less playing time. Leondre is a young man who was a star player in high school, it's obvious, he also likes to get attention. He is a talented player, however, he is an undersized player and needs to add some finesse to his game to be able to compete against the bigger players in D1. He also needs to look for his teammates more, rather than immediately putting up shots himself.

I don't know the specifics of what is going on with Leondre but this sounds like pretty normal going from high school scoring star to freshman D1 player stuff.
I like Leondre, I hope things work out, he can be a good player and help the Colonials win some championships in the future.

Well said. We'll see if he is willing to put in the work

Yep.

Right now I would say that "he is not currently with the team & is exaluating what he will do with his future at RMU"...to put it in the best terms.

He has talent & I want him to stay (FR), but it doesn't say good things about his character if getting (only) 10 minutes in a game after coming back from an injury offends him that much.

Seth Rouse, on the other hand, who works his butt off in practice everyday day had not even played 10 minutes all year at that point.

So getting mad over this is petty (to say the LEAST) & really does not reflect good on Washington at all.

I am excited about Josh Williams next year as well. Good chance he & his brother could start together.

Any chance we see a lineup of, providing they all stay, of:

PG: Jon Williams
SG: Josh Williams
SF: Matty McConnell
PF: Dachon Burke
F/C: Koby Thomas

I know it's small but it probably would be their best five...I know I'm getting ahead lol but it could work.

Doesn't look like Leondre's on the bench tonight. If you can't set aside things to show up for your team for a playoff game, especially when your head coach says you're not being disciplined, maybe it's best to move on.

Could explain why RMU has looked at some guards to add to the recruiting class.

Shame, I think talent wise he could have been a good player for RMU in a year or so.

Too bad his feelings got hurt. This freshman class certainly all got their share of playing time.

Of course, no surprise about this move. He could do well going to a JUCO for a year and maturing a bit and seeing where he lands after that. Too bad things did not work out better. I wish him all the best.
