Congrats to RMU on a tough win yesterday.
Here are some of my notes from the game
It was a good win for this team yesterday. Bryant is a senior loaded team that really had nothing to play for and after losing McCray, it showed.
But gotta credit the RMU players for wanting to end the season with a win.
There is a lot of work that needs to be done in the off-season but replacing seniors, offense, coaching, play-calling...etc
I'll try to put together my NEC award winners and team winners for RMU later this week.
I'll also look ahead to next season.
Here are some of my notes from the game
- Bryant was a different team after losing Ricardo McCray to an injury. McCray had 90yds rushing on just 11 carries and a TD in less than a quarter of play. McCray rushed for 30yds on a 2nd & 5 where Smigiera tackled him high and ended his day. This was less than 3 minutes left in the 1st quarter. Huge Break for the Colonials.
- Derik Abbott didn't walk today for Senior Day, perhaps the young man has not played his last college football game.
- Barr was very smart today with the ball and the play calling was safe. 13 out of 16 for 122. No passing TDs but one rushing. No INTs and no Sacks. OL and RBs did a great job keeping him clean all day.
- What a game by Zack Zamiska. 8 tackles, 2 TFLs and 2 sacks.
- A very questionable call by Coach Banaszak on 4th and 6 from your own 30 yard line. RMU did a fake punt where Corey Garry tried to throw a pass to Cole Blake. Garry threw the ball like a shot put and thankfully the "duck" went about 2 yards and landed on the ground.
If it worked, great call but it didn't so sorry...awful call and almost cost this team the game. Next play, Bryant scores and with 5:31 remaining in the 4th quarter, Bryant is only down one score.
Coach Banny said that the wind caused the play to not work...really!?!?!...lol - RMU was only 4 out of 13 on Third-Down Conversions
- Passing still lacking the numbers; only 122 yards passing.
- 1-2 punch of Owens and Blake worked.
- I'm still puzzled as to why Nic Lamica is not featured more in this offense and why Ben Line gets no love.
