Another RMU FB Coach leaves

As seen the last few weeks, there has been a little turnover in the coaching staff on the football team. I personally don't feel this has anything bad to do with the program, all of these coaches have left for better opportunities to go further in their careers. Granted you don't like to see coaches leave, but we have to keep it in perspective. This is Robert Morris, not a D1 A program. It's a stepping stone program where guys are probably always looking for a better opportunity unless they have special circumstances

I'm sure the coaches have all talked. This is a one year deal for this staff. I'm sure they have placed feelers out there for other opportunities. And if a great position open ups, you jump on it.
I don't blame the coaches for looking just like I don't blame players from leaving the program either.
Two new offensive coaches will be added for a side of the ball that struggled.

WOW...3 coaches plus the Director of Football Ops all gone. It will be interesting to see who Banny hires.

As ORMC has mentioned, these guys need to look out for their careers. Everything is based on a 1 year contract. I do not like the one year deals, either back the coach with a long deal, or cut ties. This 1 year stuff exasperates these moves.

I'd also mention, any coach coming in would basically be agreeing to a 1 year deal also so that potentially could limit the pool of highly qualified applicants.

Again, no hard feelings to the coaches whom are moving on. All a fan can ask for, is while they are at RMU, they give it hell. Same with the players.

Core coaches stayed that really matters especially with so many young guys. Schemes, verbiage, message and direction will stay the course.

Good to know schematically things will not change for the guys. Like learning a new language sometimes. I really, really hope they get things going this year. Seems like a lot of talent on the roster. Just need everything to click.

Injuries injuries injuries. I haven't been able to make it to a practice yet but from what I hear the injuries are piling up even worse than last year

F! Just curious, not sure if anyone would know. With all the injuries last year, were there any significant changes to the lifting/fitness program? I hope they learn from mistakes, and not repeat them.

I'm not sure if the off-season workouts have changed. But when you lose a lot from graduation and transfers, your numbers are obviously low.
Which means more reps and perhaps we have some players that just break easily. I know we are not the strongest team in the NEC and technique will counter strength in certain positions.
I'm not sure that our numbers are low heading into Spring Ball.

A good point ORMC and thanks. Just know there have been lots of advances in training/nutrition, hope that rmu is keeping up with everything.

I've also always been of the mind that different positions should train differently, and even different individuals should have individual programs. That may be an issue of staffing at RMU to do so, but guess just concerned with the injuries. Seems to becoming the rule as opposed to the exception. To be clear, I understand that there will always be injuries, and hopefully it is not as as bad as I am envisioning.

You are 100% right. OL should not be training the same as QBs. OL/DL should align to power lifting. Getting form down for squats and deadlifts to truly increase the numbers they hit in the weight room.

Orignial_RMC, it is time for you to get back on the coaching staff. You're a Hall of Famer. You're alma mater needs you!

LOL...I think that window is gone. Coaching is a very tough career and does require to you move to where the job is. I know my life would be completely different if I would have gotten that GA position at Iowa for OL. It came down to me and another individual (someone the staff knew). And I didn't get it.

I'm always willing to help where I can and the staff knows I'm just a call away.

Made it up to the last 20 minutes of practice this morning. Must've been a junior day, I was encouraged to see the number of recruits there. Looks like we're down to 4 healthy lineman. Rodriguez, lamb, boyette, and mccallister. I didn't count up the amount of guys but it did look like numbers are down a little. I think 4 qbs, 3 rbs, zamiska was in a sling, Malik was on a crutch, fennell had his knee wrapped, and there was a few other injured guys. Initially when you see injuries, you think it could be a fluke or the player but it seems that every spring ball season that they get slammed with injuries. After it consistently happens over and over year after year, it makes you wonder what the training program is like for these guys or the strength conditioning might attribute to it

Thanks for update ty. I agree 100%. I hope they are looking into strength and conditioning and making the appropriate changes and not just blaming kids being soft or any other excuse. Way 2many I juries, in way 2 many years.

The amount of injuries again this year before camp would definitely concern me. The strength and conditioning coach's number one goal should be to get these guys stronger, faster and more flexible while keeping them healthy, with the priority being on health. Hopefully, it's just a bit of bad luck mixed with a cautious coaching staff.
