RMU to host 4 MBB games at the Pulumbo Center

I have not been in it, and maybe not possible, but I think it would have been better playing in the new rec center. I think the Womens team is playing there. Thought I heard it holds a little over 1k, and that might be way off, but a packed 1k on campus is better than an empty arena off campus.

If the team gels quickly, might be good as far as it could raise demand, and seat supply would be low. That can generate excitement about being able to get a ticket.

Just my thoughts.

Ya I doubt we get more than what the rec center holds on avg...which is like 700-800 people.

Moon or Montour HS could've worked too.

High school courts are often not the same size as college courts, so that may be an issue.

Also, high school gyms are typically hubs for other sports at the school. With middle school, JV, varsity basketball for both boys and girls, wrestling, off-season practices, etc., it would be too challenging to have these games in a HS gym.

It'll be fun trying to park at Palumbo when there's an event a block away at PPG.

Good point that the court/3pt line might not be the same.

While they are busy, I think the school could/would be excited tho to host a D-1 basketball game. At least I would be if I was them...

I mean, nothing about this period was going to be fun or easy. RMU isn't Kentucky or Ohio State where they can play in an old 8,000 seat arena on campus for a little bit while work is done.

It'll be worth it in the long run.

Yeah, but you're a college hoops fan. You're not thinking of the logistics, just the excitement. Even if these high schools had the right courts, they'd have to help staff on game day or at least train some RMU people.

Plus, all of the NEC games are broadcast on NECFrontRow and instant replay needs to be available for the officials. It's a lot easier to connect to Duquesne's system and get something running in a building that's used to having games broadcast than to set it up ata high school that's not equipped for it.

Prob I'm just thinking that attendance could be better playing at Montour then Duquesne but who knows.
