RMU Football to play Buffalo in 2019

Everyone seems to be excited about this year's incoming freshmen class. In 2019, we may find out just how good they really are. It seems there is a lot of enthusiasm among the coaches in the efforts to put together the 2017 recruiting class. If the team produces some excitement on the field this year, the 2017 recruits may be better than the 2016. I do not have that much contact with the coaches or players, but I gather that the OC change has lifted the excitement level and optimism for the program.

And, could we please beat Dayton for once!

This is great news. Maybe they build on the Buffalo trip for 2020 Air Force trip when these incoming Freshman are Seniors. I totally agree that this class and this years excitement could build an even better class for 2017. That's how you build a program.

One last note..I hope we beat Dayton this year as well, however they are loaded with returning g starters from a good team last year. We may be another year away. But I would be extremely happy to be wrong.

Well, I guess I am that someone, however I never said that RMU was considering such a move. I was asking why the school does not consider a move from D-1, or dropping the football program.
It is expensive to operate a D-1 athletic program, and it is expensive to operate a football program. The football fans on this site had been quiet for awhile, hardly any comments about spring practices for example, so I wanted to provoke some discussion. I was expecting responses listing the benefits of being a D-1 athletic program and the benefits of having a football team that justify the costs. No one really provided that information, however that thread did seem to wake up this site.

It's easy it it's a business model that is not necessarily based off of short term P&L sheets its the ROI in a long term growth plan. A small young university like RMU is still growing a core base for long term generational alumni growth. We will see the day in the next few years when football players will visit and consider RMU because this is where their father played. A championship in the next few years pays off with publicity and a few more enrollees because people inherently want to belong to something good and feel a part of it.

“Athletics and academics feed off of each other. They go hand in hand,” Coleman says. “We’ve been fortunate to watch it prosper right here at Robert Morris University.”

Yea... Just wanted to make sure they new it wasn't the school thinking about it

Again I ask the question though how does this not get released on the RMU Athletic Site, Football Page or any RMU Social Media. This is ridiculous it's the 1st FBS School Scheduled and all I hear is crickets. Someone post something ughh.....if it wasn't for this site, well this thread it wouldn't even be a blip on the radar of RMU Athletics. This is embarrassing.

I would expect to see some updates happening shortly after the 4th of July weekend on RMU's official site, such as the announcement about Kyle Griffin being the new basketball assistant and the football roster being updated among other things.
