After the "at least they won" game against SFBK, the guys have another "home" game at PPG Saturday.

LIU is 1-2 in conference, and just got beat by SFPA. Need to win the home games, and that was mentioned in the other thread, FTs need to improve quickly. The guys played tough, and Bain is looking good, I imagine he will get some more minutes, and Gombe continues to play well down low.

Massey Information:
Rankings
RMU 185
LIU 289

Prediction:
Massey gives RMU a 79% chance to win, with a predicted score of 75-67.

My worthless prediction is a BIG win for RMU. 74-52 with the D clamping down.

We went up 2 in the Massey rating maybe cuz we barely won & SFBK took us to OT.

Good win for the guys! 4-0 in conference!!!! Williams can knock down the threes. Kinda a tough first half but they grinded it went in tied.

Really amazing what Toole does with recruiting and in game changes. Just a hell of coach.

Five guys in double figures. Not the greatest performance defensively, but LIU also had a really solid gameplan to attack RMU's halfcourt defense. Toole adjusted nicely with the 2-3 zone at times to slow down LIU just enough.

Yep! Real nice W how we pulled away at the end!

88 points has to be a season high too...

Great games by Burke, Matty, Thomas, Washington, & Williams all scoring in double figures! Gotta love William's smooth, confident 3- point stroke.

RMU is now 10-7 & 4-0 in the NEC.

What an outstanding freshman class, Thomas, Williams, Bain, Washington, and Coalman. Go Colonials!

Hopefully, Petteway will get healthy, he can help this team take it up another notch.

Gombe has become a real pleasant surprise.

Williams only shoots when he's really comfortable, which is okay with me for a PG, and is pretty deadly. I'm constantly surprised that Matty misses so many open looks, but he does so many little things to win. I saw him tip two balls to himself I think on consecutive trips to keep the ball away from LIU in the last few minutes. Just a winner. The 3 he did hit was at a pivotal time plus the other 6 points in crunch time made it happen.

Redshirt frosh Cole too. We have 3 or 4 of them on the floor at the same time and we're winning. That's unusual and says good things for the future.

Toole is an amazing recruiter. The class he put together this year is a great example of it. But guys that have left are doing well elsewhere. Hopefully with the new arena and likelihood of a new conference, most of the guys will stay together.

As mentioned, but this team has quality depth. Thinnest positions are probably guard and center depth wise. For guards we have a good mix with Washington, Williams and Matty. The elder Williams will help dramatically next year, heard he is a stud and shoot great. Saw some of burke breaking press yesterday.

Center is pretty thin after Gombe. I think until petteway comes back, will start to see more of Bain playing there which could really stretch the D as he has a nice outside shot from what I have seen.

Guys like Coleman and Bain could be huge players for us next year after a year with Toole and co.

Definitely could use Petteway back soon. Also glad he has another year of eligibility. Too bad Gombe doesn't have another year to play but he has been playing pretty good. Love his dunks! Cole still needs to improve some but he still is a freshman.

One thing about David Cole is that he is still very young. He is actually younger than any of the true freshman (according to the birthdates on the basketball website). He's a good kid and smart and has a good relationship with the coaches. This year his playing time seems to be held back due to the fact that he has trouble defending without getting into foul trouble. I expect that he will improve significantly year by year.

Completely agree. Despite playing the fewest minutes per game of any regular, Cole has been whistled for more fouls than any other Colonial. But he's shown ability to have some moves on offense in the post, something RMU has lacked. In fact, he's gotten to the line almost as much as Malik Petteway, who has been RMU's best option down low when he's been healthy (though Ronnie Gombe is improving with each game).

Cole seems to have a good attitude and doesn't seem to pout when his minutes have dropped. He's the classic case of a low-major big man - a guy who has promise but will take some time to develop. In the meantime, he can help spell Gombe and provide some relief while Petteway is out.

Cole is the freshman of least impact but is still getting quality time and would get more if he could stay out of foul trouble. Most freshman post players would get hardly any time once in conference. Cole already has some bulk that most inside guys do not have until third year. This is a big class and incredibly all are playing and for the most part doing very well. We'll have lots of fun if they stick together for 4 years.

Koby Thomas NEC Rookie of the Week again. That's his fourth. Unless he gets hurt or someone really turns it up, Koby looks like a lock to be Rookie of the Year.
