Extension Stretches Banaszak Contract Through 2017 Season

Congratulations to Coach B and to Dr Coleman on making the right decision and stating why they made the decision. Hope there isn't a lot of shakeup in the supporting cast. A few moves probably will happen but I think a few key roles need to stay intact.

That is a bit surprising, thought they might wait until the end of season, but improvements have been made, just not showing in W column. With recruiting how it is now a days, twitter etc., it is important that the players know who the Coach will be. They do have a number of really talented recruits that have verbally committed already which is a great sign.

Assistants turnover in football a lot, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a little mix up there. Hopefully they can get a few wins and end this season on a high note.

But an extension of only one year tells me that Dr. Coleman et al are sending a message that they want to see significant improvement in 2017.

I think this is the right move. I think they will really turn it around next season. In the same sense, there needs to be a major change in the win column next season. If these guys can't be competitive next season and have another meltdown, then I think you'll see a big change coming

A conference title wouldn't hurt, but I think that the administration wants to see at least a record above .500, and a win over Duquesne would also help. Another sub.500 season and heads will roll.

Also of note, if the schedule that ORMC put together from AGS is accurate, its going to be tough OOC.

ETSU will be in their third year since bringing football back. (SoCon)
VMI appears to be improving (SoCon)
NDSU is NDSU
Dayton, if they are in there is never easy
That leaves room for 1 more game I think.

It would take a really big turn around to win 3 of the 4 listed. If that extra game is a D2, then I think you would pencil that in as a W. I think it is possible to go 4 out of 5 in non conference if that is how schedule shakes out. There is a lot of talent there, just need to fill some holes and improve over spring/summer.

When the rumors turn out to be true.... Happy for Coach B and his staff this should help with recruiting and negative recruiting out there.

5-25 as a head coach. You can't be "young" for three years. I'm never rooting for anyone to lose their job but results are results. We shall see
