EKU Game Notes

Going to be a tough one for sure. EKU is a good team in a pretty good conference. D must make plays to have a chance... Turnovers, sacks, etc.

You are correct. Looking at their roster they have numerous transfers from FBS schools, i.e. Illinois, Louisville, Arizona State, Tennessee, Arkansas, Kentucky, Purdue, Marshall, Michigan State, Notre Dame, West Virginia, Connecticut. If that isn't bad enough they also have a plethora of red shirt juniors, seniors etc. If I recall they have ambitions to move up to the FBS division.

So Robert Morris is taking it to EKU. Colonials lead 23-9 at the half. Jimmy Walker and Terence Stephens have been outstanding. The defense has forced two turnovers.

EKU came back to take the lead, but Robert Morris just jumped back in front on a ballsy call by Coach Clark and Coach Luvara. Fourth and 4, they go for it and get a 19-yard touchdown to take a 30-26 lead with less than 4 minutes left.

Just got home, have the live stats on as I can't watch. Really looking forward to checking stats. Sounds like the guys went hard.

Any insight from who watched would be really appreciated.

Game went to overtime. EKU scored first to make it 40-33. Robert Morris scored on third down, a pass from Walker to Dorian Bowie. Coach Clark decided to try to win it with a 2-point conversion. Good play call, looked like Walker had Gonzo (I think) in the corner of the end zone, but an EKU defender made a nice closing run to tip the ball away at the last minute.

RMU had nothing to lose. A win would've been huge, but I'm not sure RMU's defense could have stopped EKU at that point. D looked pretty gassed.

Jimmy was outstanding all game. One or two mistakes, including an INT, but that's it. Delano Madison had a big game before he got hurt. Stephens ran the ball really well in the first half, then EKU stepped up its run defense.

I think depth hurt RMU. EKU was able to keep guys fresh, especially when it went up-tempo in the second half.

Great opportunity to close the season with a win next week.

Sounds like a HUGE improvement on D. So happy with that. Looks like a. Interception and a couple of sacks.

O got back to producing like they had before the last 2 games.

The radio guys at the very end said Holmes and Thimmons played well up front, so that is another great positive.

I agree to the decision to go for two was a great call. EKU discovered late in the game the defense was tired and they could do better running than passing. The two point try was the best opportunity for a win. The blocked punt with 12 seconds to
go in the first half, was a real killer for momentum.
If the team plays as well Saturday, they will get their first NEC win. The referees were as bad as I have seen in white awhile. EKU was holding on numerous occasions right in front of the referees and it was not called. There was one obvious not pass interference called on RMU and some other very questionable calls and ball spots. One first down they gave EKU without measuring was at least a yard and a half short. The line judge was not even given the opportunity to spot the ball when the referee furthest away told the chain gang to move the chains. We had a perfect angle on the play. It was the same referee who made many of the other questionable calls. The visitors side of the stadium really gets you close to the field. There were several EKU fans on the visitors side. On a positive note the EKU band and video playback on the scoreboard were very good.
